For shopping near Bremerton and Kitsap-Bangor Naval Base, the Kitsap Mall in Silverdale hosts Khol's, Macy's, JCPenney and Sears department stores plus over 100 other mall shops and restaurants. The mall is on the Kitsap Peninsula south of Hwy 3 at the Kitsap mall Blvd exit.
This mall requires a car to navigate. There are extensive stores from major chains such as Macy's, Target, Pier 1, Bed Bath & Beyond, Costco, Barnes & Noble to mom and pop stores and of course lots of restaurants. There's even a Goodwill Store. There truly is something fir every need. Landscaping in some lots is beautifully done. I run there from the peninsula fir home furnishing needs. I love Eclectic, Tuesday Maxx and World Bazar for household things.

The U.S. Naval Undersea Museum is an official U.S. Navy museum. Our mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret naval heritage and operations for the benefit of the U.S. Navy and the people of the United States. Admission and parking are FREE!
If you are interested in naval submarine history at all, this is a great place to visit. It is also free, which is a bonus. My husband is more of a fan than me, but I was willing to give it a try. It is not very big, but there is a lot of information there. The section of the museum on how dolphins and other animals help the navy was being renovated while we were there. I was sorry to miss that as I love dolphins.

We took our 7 & 9 year old grandkids, along with our son and daughter-in-law. All, including my wife and I, enjoyed the self-guided tour. Any kid will enjoy getting hands on all the hundredsof dials, cranks, etc. There were also some great old salt docents aboard to answer questions. You have virtually total access to all parts of the ship, including the big deck guns. The components are well-labeled, so you don't have to guess what you're seeing. Baby Boomers will appreciate some of the history of the Viet Nam conflict explained in parts of the ship and the explanation of the part this ship played. There is lots of ladder climbing involved, so much of the shp will be inaccessible to those with limited mobility.

This fun adventure began with a wonderful, windy ferry ride over to Bainbridge Island from Seattle. Once there, the staff of the Reserve could not have been more pleasant and helpful about how I could best enjoy the space. Those people were worth the price of admission. Things got better from there. Now, to be fair, don't go with the expectation of a carnival. It's a Reserve, and a great one.

Open and FREE to the public Thursday through Sunday, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
I like visiting here. It seems they always have something new to see. I particularly like to see the orange octopus they rescued. These animals really do have personality. The volunteers are always knowledgeable and like to share the stories.

I almost do not want to write about this beautiful gem to keep it to myself...WA state is one of the most beautiful places I've ever lived. The only complaint I have about Scenic Beach is that the beach area is super small and we would have stayed longer if the tide had not come in. Stunning scenery!

Wonderful award winning LEEDS architectural space to view art. It changes often and spotlights different collections every 3-4 months. A fabulous Bistro for light lunches with excellent savory tarts and soups. The gift shop is a bonus and well as the narrated Tuesday night movie series. There is NO admission fee so art is accessible to all who want to visit.

Make sure you stop by this beautiful place full of beautiful things. The vault is not to be missed! We picked up a stunning painting for a song. Will go back to silver fake just to visit the store again.

I love most museums dedicated to our military and this was no exception. There were some great exhibits. I especially was fascinated by the baseball players in the navy exhibit. Had no idea that so many famous major league players were in the service back in the day. We were short on time and could have spent a lot more of it here.

Great place to sit and meet tourists, or locals. Lots of parking,
restaurants, antique and art shops. Enjoy overlooking the harbor, rent a kayak. I have lived here 30 years and never get tired of the waterfront. Do not miss the boardwalk, watch the seals basking with their young in spring.
