For what is in essence the town park to be one of the highest rated attractions for any town on Trip Advisor it must be something special, but in this case it is. The Quarry, where Percy Thrower was Parks Superintendent for nearly thirty years, is a superb open space which not only contains the excellent Dingle garden, but the beautiful rows of Lime trees that form a central avenue between the Hercules statue and Percy Throwers house, the Quarry lodge, with the excellent St Chads Church as a back drop, and also line the River Severn walkway from the Porthill footbridge all the way to the Greyfriars footbridge. The Dingle is truly superb and all I can say is do not to miss this and walk the wonderful Lime paths when you visit Shrewsbury.

This market hall was recommended to us by the proprietor of our B&B and she was right to do so. A very interesting collection of independent market stall offering produce from your standard fruit and veg , Asian and Indian street food and plenty of different arts and crafts stalls. All undercover over two floors it was interesting to wander here for a while.

Martin is a great raconteur, we had fun, learnt (and drank!) a lot and the pie for lunch was exceptionally good. Lovely local business.

100 acres of stunning scenery filled with magical Follies around every corner. One of Britain's original theme parks, this fantasy landscape full of bridges, towers and caves has been inspiring visitors for over 250 years.
Been to the Santa Safari today with my wife and our 2 boys 7 & 4. Can honestly say it’s the best Santa we’ve been to see and the whole experience was superb. We were a bit worried after reading bad reviews but I can honestly say I couldn’t fault a thing. Upon arrival at the hotel we went into a Christmas theme room with hot chocolate to have. We then went up to the caves in a 4x4 land rover which was very cool. Once at the caves we were met by friendly elves who told us where to go and explained the Covid rules. The caves were great, very well decorated for lots of photo opportunities. When we got to see Santa me and my wife were amazed how good he looked. With a real white beard and a friendly smile he was superb with the kids. Spent a good 5 minutes asking them questions and making them laugh. The boys were given an avengers soft toy as a gift (better than a lot for the cheap rubbish we’ve had in the past) You then leave the caves to stunning views before being taken back to the hotel in a 4x4. Honestly couldn’t fault a single thing! Well done to everyone involved you really have made Christmas week feel magical.

The place is unique as it used to be a school and was converted into a visitor centre for The Bog which was a giant mining site from 1700s to 1922. It has a small cafe, info on the walking trails, free parking nearby, and bathrooms. The center also has some historical aspects such as a geological garden, historical photographs, and part of the aerial that used to haul the mine's product.

Popped in for an hour and a half, booked online with a £5 deposit which was taken off our tab. It’s table service only now, all staff were friendly and the cocktails were lush!
