Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area

The park along the lake, located in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, opened in 1994 as a result of cooperation between the U.S. Forest Service, Arizona State Parks, Arizona Game and Fish and the city of Show Low in partnership with Arizona Public Service and McCarty Construction Company. Today, visitors can camp among the tall pines and hike along the lake at a cool 6,300 feet in elevation. Year-round camping, fishing, picnicking, boating and wildlife viewing opportunities make Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area a popular place.

This Lake, camp ground has a little bit of something for everyone. $10 was the fee for the day use. You can sit by the lake and enjoy the wild life or rent a bike, kayak, fish or hike the trails around the lake. There is also a well maintained camp ground with RV or tent camping. We really enjoyed our day at the lake.

And to think that we've lived in Show Low for over 15 years and never visited before! We took our 10 year old grandson there. This is a great museum with lots of history and cool things. The train room is just great! Lots of work and time has been put into that room. The staff is extremely informative but allows you to take the time to see everything, thus is was not a guided tour. The staff works hard to answer any questions one may have. There is a little bit of everything. We were amazed and pleased with the museum. It was bigger than it looks from the outside. It was free of charge...but we felt prompted to make a donation...because so much time and effort goes into packing each room with information and objects to make the museum worthwhile. It is definitely a "must visit" and we're told they get new things in all the time. They even have a children's area.

What a wonderful dog park this is! It was Lucy's first time there. She met Gracie (with Donna--so lovely to meet you!) and Dylan (with Dennis)! There are 2 separate areas--one of them for more timid dogs. In the larger area there's a walking trail, huge open area for exploring or a game of catch, water and bowl provided, lovely benches if you want to sit. Scenery is as good as it gets! Although we didn't have time to explore all of this city park, we saw lovely, well-maintained grounds, tennis courts, paved walking trails, a very large ramadas. Kudos to Show Low!

This is definitely an upgrade for used book stores in small towns. The store "vibe" is welcoming and comfortable, you almost feel like you found a new home. Unexpectedly large with kind people working the store. Definitely their Treasures are not Antiques, but lean more to local artists and local authors. Not a souvenir shop. If your a book lover who likes to keep the mind active on vacation you are sure to find something to interest you and the local items in the shop are extremely well made and reasonable priced.

I stop here a lot on my way to and from Show Low. It's quiet, uncrowded and not trashed too badly. Lots of birds and other critters. It's a good place to see migratory waterfowl.
