Kunozan Toshogu Shrine

Reviewed By tourguidejapan - Shizuoka, Japan

Toshogu shrine is thought to be in Nikko, but this is the 1st Toshogu, where the 1st Shogun is buried. This shrine holds annual commemorative ceremony for him on April 7. So, this is the one for rituals for him while Nikko has more gorgeous festivals.

Seiken-ji Temple

Reviewed By Tokugawa_Ieyasu - Fujieda, Japan

Seiken-ji temple is very famous among Japanese history lovers. The area where the temple had been governed by Iamagawa clan, and finally by Tokugawa clan. The temple also was affected by those powerful clans. Walking outside of the temple building must be a lot of fun. The appearances of the buildings are old and awful. You may find hundreds of stone statues of monks. Looking inside of the temple is also great. Historical interiors and goods are exhibited. The garden with the style of "Kare Sansui" must be worth seeing.
