Month of visit - December 2019 Open hours - 9am to 4pm Koodlu theertha falls is located near Hebri in Udupi district. The road leading upto the entry of the falls once you turn from the Hebri-Someshwara road is a bit confusing. Most of the path once you turn from the Hebri-Someshwara road is mostly unsurfaced & has very few sign boards. The check post at the entry to the falls is manned by the forest department & the entry is allowed only till 4pm. The path leading to the waterfalls is well defined & has a few concrete steps on the way. It is mostly an uphill trek on the way to the falls & it takes about half an hour at normal pace. The falls itself is pristine with clear water & an awesome scenery around. Be prepared for a few leeches though!!! It is a great place to visit for a weekend getaway.

This temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is located in a small village (Keladi) near Shimoga. From outside the temple looks very ordinary but all beauty of this place is after you enter through the main gate. You will realise that the pillars are made of wood. Inside is an ancient 1400 old structure with Shiva Linga. Alongside the Shiva temple is a Parvati temple with very beautiful roof carvings made of sandal wood. The temple priest explained to us the history of the temple in brief and said that the Linga was put there by Lord Rama himself.

We stayed at the government jungle resort lodges bang opposite the sharavati river water front. The price is a bit steep but the facilities are excellent and the staff very helpful. There's absolute peace here, no mobile networks most of the time. There's an all pervading calmness. Apart from boating there are a few other water sports like kayaking speed boat swmimg etc. bird watching in the morning is very rewarding. The morning walk leads to a series of new islands. In one shallow island you can go walking deep inside coming out thoroughly refreshed. Sit in the water for a real fish spa. Schools of fish play around your feet and hands. A totally different experience for city dwellers. In the evening you can visit the world famous jog falls. A real relaxing holiday for a few days. The food served at the lodge is top drawer stuff. If you have the wherewithal go for it. Around Rs. 3800 per person per day.

Medium sized well maintained temple. Must visit place if you are interested in historic Hindu temples. One of those off beat and out of popular tourist circuit. Place bear in mind that this is a functioning temple and basic decorum needs to be followed in accordance with Hindu sentiments. The temple architecture is splendid. Big intricately carved pillars, the huge Nandi in addition to numerous typical Dravidian architecture are the highlights. The temple can be covered within an hour. The outer temple premise is also used for pre wedding candid photo shoot.
