A "must see" on most visitors list, an 88-foot manmade star (the largest in the world) sits on majestic Mill Mountain along with a beautifully landscaped city park, that boasts hiking and biking trails, and a zoo.
This is such a beautiful place -- has been in existence since I was a little girl, The star is a Roanoke landmark and the overlook gives a breathtaking view of the beautiful Roanoke Valley. I strongly recommend the visit -- free and you can take as little or as long as you'd like!

Visit our website or call for individual museum admission pricing. Mill Mountain Theatre and Children's Theatre of Roanoke tickets are available through our full-service box office. Come inside to enjoy our aquariums in the atrium and green rooftop without charge. Building Hours: Monday - Saturday 10 am - 5 pm, and Sunday 1 - 5 pm. [Note: Roanoke Pinball Museum is closed Mondays. History Museum is closed on Mondays October through April.]
Fun place to visit. Downtown Roanoke. Heart of the city. So many restaurants, breweries and shops. Interactive museums and hone of the pinball museum. Had to be dragged out of that one. In the morning during farming season there is a outdoor market with vendors selling fresh produce. Great place to walk around a bight too. Shop owners were friendly with great advice on where to eat.

COVID-19 INFORMATION: With the safety of our staff, volunteers and guests in mind we will remain temporarily closed until further notice due to COVID. Guided tours of the Patsy Cline Historic House are conducted in a very close and intimate setting. The house can not open and adhere to the Governor's Forward Virginia current opening mandates including social distancing in such a small museum space. ABOUT THE HOUSE: The house stands as an icon for Patsy Cline fans and admirers hoping to know first hand the story of Patsy’s early years. Patsy Cline’s home offers a window on the famed singer’s early road to stardom.
It was a joy to spend time at the Patsy Cline House seeing the memorabilia and hearing the story of Patsy. The volunteers here are a great value and love to share the story and visit with guests. Stop by and enjoy a peaceful visit with wonderful people.

This building is stunning and we had no plans to visit but once we spotted it, we had to go inside. It is a beautiful building with a lovely duomo. Great to explore and has lots of fantastic reading niches. Huge section for kids and teens on second floor. Spiral stairwells were fun.

Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1935, the Woodstock Tower Observation Site offers a stunning 360-degree view of the town of Woodstock, Fort Valley and the Seven Bends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River at over 2,000 feet. The area is now part of the George Washington National Forest and abounds in hiking trails and areas for camp sites. From I-66, take exit 6 at Front Royal. Turn south on US 340/522 toward the town of Front Royal. Turn right on VA 55 west to Waterlick. Turn left onto SR 678 south and continue to Detrick. Turn right onto SR 758 or Woodstock Tower Road for about four miles to the top of the mountain. The footpath to the tower is on your left. Be aware, Woodstock Tower Road is not accessible to trailers, motor homes or RVs due to curves and steep grades.

Come enjoy a wonderful meal on the 2-block Walking Mall at one of 20+ local restaurants, visit our unique shops, enjoy a cup of coffee at one of our 4 coffee shops or a craft beer at one of our 4 breweries. Two historic museums, a children's museum, and a public splash pad all accentuate your experience. Ample street, lot and garage parking is available.
We enjoy walking the brick mall and eating at one of the many cafes. It's a very nice area to stroll with children and take in the interesting shops as you munch on a cone of ice cream. I recommend a planning a romantic dinner. The surrounding streets also have restaurants.
