The historic Tower Station and U-Drop Inn Café was built in 1936 to serve travelers along Route 66. Used as a model for Ramone's Body Art in the movies Cars and Cars II, it now serves as the Shamrock Visitor Information Center. Housing many interesting displays, there is also "Cars Corner" for the kids and grown ups alike with numerous photo opportunities. The center has an expanded gift shop and offers free coffee & tea along with free internet and encourages everyone to "sit a spell" and enjoy the ambiance of this historic icon along the "Mother Road".
Oh goodness, I don't think I could add much. But if you are an art deco fan, or just of an age to remember the glory days of pre-Interstate car travel, I think you would enjoy getting off I-40 and seeing this. (Unlike most of I-40 in western Oklahoma, the old U.S. 66 alignment is away from and some distance south of the interstate. Still there and drivable from somewhere west of Shamrock to just east of Erick, OK. (Very little additional travel time; in exchange for opening up some memories of mid-century travel). Even the restrooms are from the 1930's, but clean as a whistle and there are five of them. (If you are really hardcore, there are some restored motels in town that are operational, and there is an even older preserved gas station across from the post office farther south in "downtown". Some other unrestored deco-era buildings are also in town. Oh, apparently Shamrock was a regular Elvis overnight stop, including the cafe attached to the station. You can sit where Elvis ate). OF ALL THINGS, there is a Tesla electric vehicle charging station behind the building.

I found Blarney Stone Plaza where the piece of the stone is located to be very interesting. Signs tell you about St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland who is regarded as the founder of Christianity in Ireland back in the 5th century, how town of Shamrock came to have a piece of the Blarney Stone, the significance of the shamrock, and how the town got its name and became the official city for St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Texas. There are places to sit. I was amazed how much info there was in this small plaza. Water Tower Plaza is only about a block away so I parked once and just walked between the two. It took me about half an hour to see both sites. It was a pleasant break before returning to I-40.
