Originally founded as a Roman city and now home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Seville is bursting with antique charm. The Alcazar palace complex is a stunning collage of architectural styles, and the Cathedral will impress you with its beauty and its status as the burial site of Christopher Columbus. The Metropol Parasol is the world’s largest wooden structure, a massive mix of grids and swirls that contains a market and a terrace observatory.

Built on the edge of the Maria Luisa Park in the 1920s in a huge semi circle with bridges, moats and fountains this is definitely the number one spot to visit whilst in Seville.

Easter was late this year so the festival was going on during our visit. This beautiful little town was alive with excitement, festive costumes and beautiful horse-drawn carriages . In addition, Sevilla has many quaint eateries and tiny stores with lots of souvenirs. We thoroughly enjoyed our day exploring both the city and museums.

Plaza del Triunfo is a beautiful public space. It is surrounded by a lot of history and that is seen in buildings like the Cathedral, the Real Alcazar, the Convent of the Encarnación and the lovely atmosphere of the square itself. Its name goes back to the 18th century and is connected to the Portuguese capital Lisbon. When a devastating and powerful earthquake hit Lisbon, it was felt in Seville. At that very moment, according to tradition, worshippers were inside the Cathedral, during Mass. Undeterred, they went outside on to the square, where the Mass continued. Seville, as it turned out escaped the earthquake almost unscathed. In return they named the Square in remembrance of this event. A fitting monument to the Virgin Mary was also built there.

XVI century palace still inhabited by his actual owners. Two courtyards richly decorated with XVI century tiles, Carrara marble columns, rich "plateresco" stucco work, sumptuous wood ceilings, Decorating the floor of the patio-garden there is a magnificent roman mosaic from II century AD found in Italica a century ago.
Sevilla offers many little old 'palacios' which you can visit. Do try this Casa de Salinas (about 6 EUR for an half an hour guided tour), a real treasure!

Whenever in Seville and if time is not a constraint, you cannot miss a walk along "Paseo de las Delicias"! This broad promenade, on the right bank of Seville's iconic "Río de Guadalquivir", is absolutely compulsory! Awesome views, countless monuments, fountains, statues, the gardens of "Jardínes de San Telmo", "Parque María Luísa" and "Jardínes de las Delicias"! Start walking by "Puente de Isabel II" (also known as "Puente de Triana", near the "Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza") and continue passing by other famous bridges as "Puente de San Telmo" and "Puente de los Remedios", until "Puente de las Delicias". "Triana's" awesome riverfront, on the other side of the "Río de Guadalquivir", will be right in front of your eyes! Unforgettable memories to take home! Enjoy!

An amazing building showing a very moorish influence. Stop, admire and photograph. Well worth it. Part way between Plaza Nuevo and the cathedral.

Plaza de la Virgen de los Reyes is a lovely square and is full of life. We were there around the middle of the day and enjoyed the beauty of the whole place. It is full of culture and history. Many buildings date back hundreds of years. There is a lot to see here. The Cathedral, the Bell Tower, the Giralda, the Convento de la Encarnación, the Palace of the Archbishop, the beautiful fountain in the middle of the square which is also Lamp Post! There are other things too and of course there are cafes and restaurants. Definitely worth spending lots of time in this area of Seville.

Few people visit this minuscule Square of Santa Marta, simply because people do not know about its existence. It was part of a convent in the past. Nowadays is a quite little corner of Seville, just of of the square behind the cathedral.
