Fortress of St. Philip An unmissable part of the tourist map, the Fortress of St. Philip was once an important stronghold for the defence and control of the city. Despite the lack of agreement among historians concerning the date its construction began, the fortress is dated to the year 1582, when King Philip II visited Setubal. The Castle of St. Philip, more frequently referred to as a fort or fortress, played a tactical role in strengthening the line of defence of the Portuguese coast that was attacked by pirates from northern Europe and Africa. Some of the most stunning panoramic views of the city and the bay can be seen from the walls of this fort.
A place where you can just be. Look at the sea and breathe. You'll find peace there and every problem in the world will seem less worrying.

Been going here for the vast majority of my life. This is by far the hidden gem ???? of the Arrabida beaches, this one and “Coelhos” next door... both require you to hike and that’s the reason that still to this day, they retain the privacy and its beauty. No matter what month it is, what the weather is doing, where exactly in the world I am, my heart’s always here 100%

The "House of the Bay - Center for Tourism Promotion ", is an authentic business card of the region of Setubal. The space, which functions in a building from the XVIII century, includes a tourist service area and a wine area, with a wine cellar where all the region's producers are represented. The cloisters function as a winter garden, giving support to the cafeteria where you can taste the famous muscatel of Setubal. This is the ideal space for two or a family to visit, relax and get to know better, everything Setubal has to offer.
Casa da Baia has all the information you need of where to go and what to do in Setúbal, plus a wine tasting bar and entertainment in the Summer months.

I stumbled onto Praia do Portinho by chance on a previous visit and just had to return. The beauty of the place is captivating, almost out of a movie - recommend 110% if in the area of Setubal. You won’t be able to take you car directly to the beach and the directions provided by google maps is wrong. Instead of driving along the coast (coming from Setubal), go direction Sierra da Arrabida. Make sure to stop along the way in any of the view points at the Sierra, the views are incredible. Once you get to the entrance to Portinho there will be a guard, park wherever you can and walk down (about 10mins) or for €2-€3 you can ride down on tuk tuk’s that operate for most of the day. Once you get to Portinho, you can enjoy a meal at any of the restaurants or just chill at the beach. I believe there a boat rides that operate from there but we never booked any. Setubal is know for its fried cuttlefish so make sure to try them at any of the restaurants located there, best I’ve ever had!
