A great place to visit at sunset. We had time beforehand to visit the environs of the church of Our Lady of the Cape and what was the associated spiritual centre for pilgrims. This was memorable and atmospheric. The sunset was worth standing in the blustery cape for. And the lighthouse changed colours frequently as the sun descended. Worth making the effort to see.

It is a little difficult beach to find. You have to ask to locals and have to walh in dome difficut trails but is considered one of the most beautiful Beaches of Portugal. The turquoise waters, the isolated pkace preserve its beaury ( not in summer time). By boat id much easier to find it.

This beach has a backdrop of the seaside city of Sesimbra with a host of restaurants near the front.
The beach has lovely soft sand and really comes to life I need the first weekend of June when sunlougers and shades start to appear, heralding the start of summer.
My visit at the end of May had lots of local families enjoying the sands, as I expect they do most weekends. Most travel from Lisboa.

Spent a couple of afternoons here (cycled from Alfarim) to this beautiful lagoon. It is amazing! Enjoyed a lovely swim in not too deep water. Great for children as so safe. Big contrast to the nearby Atlantic beach which had big surf and swell which was unadvisable to swim in. Will take picnic and parasol next time. Can't wait to return.

We had a very nice meal, great flavours and very fresh octopus. Superb location in the fort with great views. Very friendly service, made us feel welcome, even with a young child.

The Sesimbra Castle is a renovated ruin from the Moorish period of the 12th century. Lovely spot with astonishing beautiful views over the Atlantic. The entrance is free to the buildings/ruins and there is also a small café. Very well maintained and indeed a recreational area in this part of Portugal. If your'e in the neighbourhood, do drive up to see it.

We went to the castle and the church is in the grounds also. It has the most amazing blue and white tiled pictorial scenes from the bible on its walls. It is obvious cherished by the local community and still had wedding flowers arranged in areas from a recent ceremony.
