Gammelbutikken (The old store) was built sometime in the 1870’s as a general store with all types of goods like food, equipment, clothes, fishing gear and whatever else that was needed in a fishing village on Senja. In addition to being a general store it also functioned as office for the local fish landing factory and shipping agent. The second floor was used as accommodation for fishermen seeking shelter and somewhere to sleep. Today’s furnishing are the originals from 1925 and the store today appears much the same as it did a long time ago. Gammelbutikken today is a combination of museum, souvenir shop and cafe serving baked goods, coffee, drinks, ice cream and old fashioned candy. Variety of handcrafted goods from local Senja artists. Open Summer 2019 from June 25. – Aug 28. And on request. Can be booked for private events.

Snyfjellet Gård Smådyrpark is a dreamy visitors farm on Senja for both young and old. We have exotic bird life, emu, lama and other norwegian farm animals. Our time and effort has been to ensure that all the individual animals needs are met, so we can have the best attraction to invite our guests to enjoy. Snyfjellet is only open during the Summer months, Tuesday to Sunday. We also offer horseback riding at 15:30 - 16:30. The kiosk sells coffee, ice-cream, norwegian waffles, hotdogs and soda. The children can also have fun in the playground with sandbox and trampoline. Welcome to our farm.

We snowshoed up Hesten Trail with Sans Senja Guides and had an amazing hike. We lucked out with the weather clearing just as we arrived, and only closing back in about half-way down on the return. It took us about three hours, but this was the first time we've ever snowshoed and the snow was a bit heavy considering the mild temperatures. But wow! What a hike. Norwegians are rightfully confident in their abilities to hike and snowshoe in alpine environments, so a lot of information you find online makes these things sound much easier than they are for the rest of us. We are from Florida where there are no hills or mountains. If you decide to do this hike in winter like we did, and you are 100% confident, I would highly advise you hire a guide. Sans Senja Guides were awesome.

Great place to stop and take photos while driving around Senja. I visited in October and still had some Autumn colours left. If you don't like doing hikes, this is a must-see spot in Senja, as it's very easily accessible. Like most spots, I would highly recommend visiting during sunrise or sunset, or during the Northern Lights season.

Such a beautiful location! The beach is so stunning with it's crystal clear water and the high mountains surrounding the beach area. This is good for couples and families, there is plenty of space. This is also a great camping area and has good facilities for campers. A must visit destination on the Senja Island!
