We visited through the afternoon, walked along the jetty, had an ice cream and visited some markets. Enjoyed it so much returned for a sunset, which included dinner at a local pub.

Semaphore Beach

Reviewed By nellybellytravels - Melbourne, Australia

Once you step half a k from the main foreshore square, you enter a more naturalistic beach surroundings, where you'll see a great stretch of native plants and sand dunes. There is an excellent walk from Semaphore to Largs Bay Jetty; just shy of a mile one way. It is just long enough to stretch your legs but short enough to not feel tired or too hot on a sunny day. I recommend stopping in Largs Bay, down Jetty Road, for a drink before your return walk.

Local cinema with really good screens and sound. Tickets usually $9 so great value. Nice little cafe serving coffee and those cinema treats of chic tops and popcorn. Latest release movies so great for families and anyone.

Semaphore Carousel

If by chance you are strolling along Semaphore Beach and come across this little gem open, you must head inside. Step back in time and feel like a child again as you make yourself dizzy going around. Introduce your digital native children to something unusual.

The Semaphore Waterslide Complex

Reviewed By grahamw309 - Semaphore, Australia

I remember Semaphore as a bustling, exciting sea-side experience. With the demise of the railway which used to run along Semaphore Road to the Esplanade, Semaphore died. However, since I moved to Semaphore about six years ago I have seen the re-emergence of Semaphore as a bustling, exciting sea-side experience. The foreshore has been developed to provide convenient parking, lawns, a walking/bike track and access to new children's Playgrounds. Also, the aging Jetty has been renovated. From there it is only a short walk to the excellent eateries, hotels, speciality shops and the cinema on Semaphore road.

Cumberland Newport Hotel

Reviewed By MrDavetheSarks - Melbourne, Australia

Actually, that is probably the only good thing about this pub - the beer garden. Other than that it really comes across as a pub that only the locals visit. In fact when my friend and I visited this pub it was full of old people all sitting around the bar chatting to the bartender - not really the sort of place that I would spend my time (except in the beer garden of course). Mind you, if I lived in the area I might be seen around here, but other than that I doubt I'll return.

Coastal Drive 59

Reviewed By Steve W - Adelaide, Australia

A wonderful little snapshot of the Le Fevre Peninsula, the esplanade, the Beaches, a bit of history and the people. Well worth a quick tour for visitors who are short of time. The tour is self-guided, so need to look out for the "59" sign
