We were in town for a 4H event and decided to try to escape the Mad Scientist's lab. Everything was so clean, elaborate and very challenging. This was an amazing experience that we will never forget. Such a bonding experience! You won't regret spending time here!

With a commanding view from atop a bluff, Bothwell Lodge State Historic Site is one of the best representations of early 20th Century sensibilities in the Midwest. Walk through the 31-room, 12,000-square-foot lodge built atop two natural caves by Sedalia lawyer John Homer Bothwell. You will marvel at the owner’s eclectic tastes and how a country gentlemen furnished a recreational lodge for himself and his friends. Most of the furnishings in the house are original, and the property also has a three-mile hiking and mountain biking trail.
Whenever we have visitors from out of town or out of state this is the first place we take them to visit. You can tour the castle, wander the grounds and take a hike in the woods. Bring a picnic lunch and spend some quality time in the open air of this beautiful old estate.

Trails End Monument is a wonderful attraction in Sedalia. Though it is visible from the two major streets, it is worth getting out and exploring in detail by walking around the monument. A nice sidewalk has been built just for that. The parking lot for the monument is accessible through the Missouri State Fair grounds. The well-built historical monument depicts the history of trails and railroad of Sedalia. A free audio tour can be dialed up on the phone while walking around the monument. This is certainly a worthwhile stop in Sedalia.
