The Skye Ferry closed for 2020.
This is the perfect Zen experience! Anticipation as you watch the small ferry making its crab-like way through the fast currents in the Sound of Sleat. Take photos as she twirls into the slipway at Glenelg, turntable at the ready. She can load up to 6 cars including 12 passengers then quickly off for the ten minute journey to Skye across the waters . The ferry has been refurbished recently by the enterprising community of Glenelg-Skye and gives great pleasure to tourists and an efficient service to commuters who would otherwise have a much longer drive to the bridge between mainland and Skye.

Strongly recommended as a free (donations welcome) from Govan to the stunning Riverside transport museum - or to visit the excellent Govan Stones if heading from the Museum to the south of river -long may the ferry run.

I was skeptical in the beginning to book a service that provided an all round service of bus-ferry. The best part was it was very affordable. But my worries were pushed aside when the bus took off on time. Our journey was really smooth. The ferry was on time and we even arrived to Belfast right on schedule. I enjoyed the ferry ride, and got to see some amazing sunset as the ferry sails across the sea. I would highly recommend this to any travellers who are planning to cross Ireland and Scotland to make use of Hannon Coach service.

Historic live steam miniature railway set in the grounds of Strathaven Public Park. We have just celebrated 71 years of operating the railway in 2020. We have still in use the original locomotive which ran in the park for the first time on the 14th of May 1949. 'Margaret' is the locomotive in question and can be seen either on display or in use on special occasions. Weather permitting trains will be in operation from Easter to the end of September each weekend.
This fabulous gem in the heart of the delightful South Lanarkshire market town of Strathaven is run by volunteers and is one of the reasons Strathaven Park keeps winning Grren Flag Awards ! Its been operating in the park for over 70 years now and regularly you find three generations of families who are total fans and on the train together ! Miss this delightful attraction at your peril.

The Knoydart Ferry offers unforgettable experiences that will live with you forever. We operate the Knoydart Ferry Service, 1 Hour Wildlife Cruises & Private charter for Weddings and special occasions, plus fast remote drop off and pickups in our Red Bay RIB. We run 3 MCA approved passenger vessels: The jewel in our crown is the MV Western Isles, an 81 passenger traditional wooden ferry, with a licensed bar and toilets. This has operated as the ferry service up Loch Nevis for the past 60 years. Next up, the new purpose built in 2018, 42 passenger Catamaran the MV Larven named after the Munro on the Knoydart peninsula. And finally a 10 passenger RedBay RIB, Big Dipper. This bad boy can do 40 knots and can drop you off or pick you up from anywhere, or alternately just take you on a wildlife rib adventure you will never forget. So for your next adventure or special occasion let Western Isles make it unforgettable. We pride ourselves on our service and the quality of our staff.
A brilliant trip out with Jayne on the Big Dipper cruising around loch Nevis hearing stories about the history of the sea. Porpoises, seals, gannets and incredible scenery, not to mention great fun as we bounced along the waves. Felt totally safe with Jayne who looked after us so well; one of the most engaging and enjoyable experiences we’ve had for a while. Definitely on our radar for when we visit again!

Great new website. Book early if planning to visit Jura when events are on. £20 each way is great value as in return to the mainland you are in your car before Calmac leave Islay. Dolphins can often be seen. Buy a beer at Tayvalich Inn or the village shop and start your holiday early!

Take a day trip from Oban and visit the Inner Hebridean islands of Mull, Coll, Tiree or Iona. Go a little further, take a trip north to the Outer Hebrides or south to the island of Colonsay.
Travelled from Mallaig to Armidale with 2 elderly relatives towards the end of the year, apart from the flat calm crossing, it was a totally enjoyable experience. From the moment we arrived, the gentleman directing the traffic into the que was aware we were arriving and needed mobility assistance until we disembarked it was faultless. Catering facilities excellent for such a short crossing, spotless along with friendly helpful staff. Would highly recommend

What fantastic staff, so very helpful. The crossing from Port Askaig is absolutely beautiful the best 5 minutes ferry crossing ever.

Let NorthLink Ferries take you on a voyage of discovery to the islands of Orkney and Shetland. With NorthLink Ferries, travelling to Orkney and Shetland is more convenient than ever before. Choose from up to three sailings a day from Scrabster (near Thurso) to Stromness in Orkney and nightly sailings from Aberdeen to Lerwick in Shetland - with four of these sailings going via Orkney's capital, Kirkwall.
We just did the round trip of Scrabster to Orkney, Orkney to Shetland, Shetland to Orkney and Orkney to Scrabster. This review of for the section Orkney to Scrabster. You dock in Orkney in Kirkwall quite late, well we docked at 10.30pm and had a bit of a mad dash across the island to get the boat moored up in Stromness ready for the early morning sailing. We had a cabin booked. We used to do this trip years ago, and quite a few things had greatly improved. We got to book in quite late at about 5 mins to 11 so were just in time. We had a lovely cabin booked, and were also booked into the Magnus lounge. The lady who walked us on said we had missed the lounge as it was closing, but it was such a shame she asked the girl on the boat to let us go in anyway. This we did and were given a huge plate of sandwiches, enough for 10 people !! cake, biscuits, 2 large double drinks, as many soft drinks as we could carry and newspapers. It really was excellent and all free with the cabin. The lovely girl even helped us carry every thing down to the cabin. I was a bit worried as we were the cabin by the slamming main door, but apparently we were the last on and everyone else had gone to bed. So we had a great picnic, nice hot shower, watched tv. It was quiet, never heard a thing, and all you could hear was the boat engine starting up in the morning. It was very very rough, storm something or other. But the boat still went. We went up and they still did an excellent cooked breakfast, free with the cabin and plenty of extras to choose from. Stunning and magnificent views. Arrived on time. It was great.
