This scenic coastline is host to 2 working harbours Cockenzie and Port Seton. Cockenzie is the oldest harbour with Port Seton built in 1656 . A fishing harbour foremost but involved in extracting salt from the sea . It is used as a yauchting marina as well as lobster and crabbing boats . There is a cafe at the east end of the pier and is very popular with visitors taking a walk with excellent views across to Fife

Cockenzie Harbour

Reviewed By craigluscar - Dunfermline, United Kingdom

On a sunny winter day we took a stroll to the harbour, coming from Fife I am used to harbours like this ,very picturesque and still a working harbour . Built in 1591 to ship coal from nearby Tranent it also extracted salt from the sea water in large pans .There was also Shipbuilding on site until the 1990s. You can still see the sliprails for the vessels .The Harbour is classified B historic site
