Monumento ai Caduti 1915-18 - “Rintocchi e Memorie”

When one passes by and just sees a bronze statue group it cannot imagine that it is actually part of a daily tradition in the city. This monument for those who have fallen during the wars has a bell in the middle which tools everyday at 18:00. Police stop the trafiic around it at that time and it kind of forces all who are nearby to respect a minute's silence. It seems that it is something unique to Savona

Cattedrale di Nostra Signora Assunta

Architectural locations are of great interest to us. This is one of my favorites on our journey since leaving the US in March. The facade is so wide I needed to go to a street at an angle to achieve a full view. The workmanship of the pieces shows exactly what kind of artisans were employed in creating this masterpiece. I'd allow an hour, really, to take in all the beauty.
