Beautiful 17th century chateau in southern Burgundy
Loved the gardens around the castle, we brought our own lunch and had a fantastic view. Because went in lunchtime the castle itself (meaning: the tours) was closed and that meant we had the gardens for ourselves! Well worth a visit and impressive to see the exposition on the renovations they did, way more work than I expected, can only have respect for that.

The Rock of Solutré, emblematic place of Southern Burgundy, is in the heart of the "Grand Site de France Solutré Pouilly Vergisson" which groups 8 villages.
The Roche de Solutre is a must-see for the Burgundy area. This is an easy hike with amazing views along the way and at the top. We did not stop in the museum areas, just made the ascent and enjoyed the peaceful views of the surrounding countryside.

Bibracte is the name of the former capital of a powerful Gaulish people. The site of the Gaulish town occupies one of the highest summits in the Morvan mountain range, Mont Beuvray, in the Burgundy Region of France. Nowadays, Bibracte is a benchmark site for the study of Celtic civilisation. Bibracte Museum stands on the slopes of Mount Beuvray. In a very contemporary architectural setting, the permanent exhibits offer a fascinating account of Celtic civilisation through its fortified towns. Numerous models, audiovisual presentations, and reconstructions make the museum very attractive and enable you to get right to the heart of the everyday lives of our ancestors. You will thus discover the social organisation, arts and crafts, agriculture, trade, religion, art and culture of peoples who were much less barbaric than Caesar wanted us to believe...

We were 6 adults, 3 children of 3 years old and a baby. We took a full pass to all activities in the parc. Great combination of activities for both adults and children. There’s also a lot of space in all areas (we had a rather big stroller) and it’s very cool inside so good for hot summer days. Personell was really very friendly! The children also enjoyed it: the story of winery told in a playful way, all parts of the museum very interactive and attractive for children as well. Some parts are like an attraction parc, and we did not even have to pay for the children. The little train brings you to the garden, where there is also room for children to participate in the activities. We had a very pleasant day and were all very tired at the end of the day (you spend a whole day there). Food at noon was very good and not expensive at all. Also good facilities for children!

The market at Louhans is one of the largest in Burgundy and not to be missed. It meanders around town and includes something for everyone, local and tourist alike. Clothing, knives, shoes, socks, baskets, tools... And the food, Oh My Goodness THE FOOD, cheese, fresh vegetables, meat, charcuterie, fish, fowl, breads, eggs, honey, jams, wine tasting, prepared food, mouth watering morsels around every corner. My best advise is to go EARLY, it all ends at 1:00 PM, and bring your shopping cart or bags, You WILL want to buys lots.
