For more than 50 years PCPA - Pacific conservatory Theatre has been presenting exemplary theatre and providing excellent training with a resident company of theatre professionals. Begun in the summer of 1964, founder Donovan Marley laid the ground work for a year-round professional theatre company. PCPA remains the only resident professional company on the Central Coast producing consistent quality entertainment for the community while training thousands of actors and theatre technicians for a career in theatre.
Fun and well done theatre, very fair family friendly cost, and kid friendly snacks and intermission.

A beautiful winery, and there's plenty of places to sit inside or out. There's a couple of wine tastings to choose from, and our host, Cambria, was really friendly and helpful. They do an excellent charcuterie sharer platter, great quality and size, but be aware that the kitchen closes at 4pm - you can pre-order if you are going to arrive after then.

Unlike all the other wineries that are right off Foxen canyon road, this particular winery is hidden a mile plus into the hills so this visit includes a beautiful drive and great setting. The tasting room itself is smaller than most but even with a large crowd we still got to enjoy our tasting. This winery has a nice outside seating area and it has a more casual atmosphere around it than some other wineries . I didn't care for the Meritage that is supposed to be one of the more popular wines but the Malbec, Syrah and Merlot were all very good.

Scenic trail through vineyards and rolling hills of California's Central Coast wine region.
There are lots of wineries on Foxen Canyon Road and in the surrounding area. We visited Foxen and were treated like royalty because a friend, who knows them, called ahead for us. We also visited Kenneth Volk Winery, which I recommend for their many unusual varieties. Expand your wine horizon and visit here.

7600 Foxen Canyon is a newish winery and tasting facility. 7200 Foxen Canyon is their old original barn, come tasting room. It is this one I remember from years ago. Each provides a different type of wine to taste. 7600 is primarily Pinot Noirs, 7200 is everything else they produce, whites and reds. Our visit on May 24, is the first time back in years. The barn looks exactly the same, a new patio added, the staff here just love this space it seems. The Foxen name comes from the gentleman who pushed the property from the original Spanish Land Grant a century and a half ago. When I first came here tastings were at no cost, now $15.00. But as compared to Napa costs, a bargain. Napa has become a playground for the extremely wealthy, or someone to go on a once in a lifetime journey. The wines from the Santa Rita Hills are exceptional and varied. "You do not need to be buying any wine". I am scolded. I have over 200 bottles at home and yet at Foxen I picked up 6 more bottles. My favorite this time, a 2013, Range 30 West from 7200. A 52% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Franc, blend.

Riverbench Vineyard was established in 1973, when its first Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes were planted on the property. For years since then, some of the most renowned wineries in Santa Barbara County have purchased our fruit for their own wines. Over time Riverbench has become a prominent name for high quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the Santa Maria Valley. In 2004, a group of local families purchased the property. Wine drinkers themselves, the owners quickly became enamored with the wine industry and decided to start producing their own wine label using small quantities of their exceptional fruit. Riverbench Winery was born. The first vintage included both Estate and Reserve versions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Since then, our portfolio has increased to include new interpretations of these noble varietals. All Riverbench wines are made in limited quantities, and many are available exclusively through our tasting room.We are a Santa Barbara Green Business!
This is a nice winery with a nice tasting room and really engaging tasting staff. The wines were good, especially the bubblies (we understand their specialty), and some of the pinot. This was our first stop of the day so we didn't stay as long as we should have. They were just starting music outside and it would have been a great place to sit and enjoy.

There's a craft table where kids can create, play diner, climbing wall, firemen gear, much more that keeps children interested in play for hours.

A small museum at the Santa Maria airport with displays of current and older models of aircraft. The most interesting fact is where some of the Norton bomb sights mechanisms were kept. It was a real surprise.

I've reviewed Cambria before. It makes some of my favorite wines. But one thing I find impressive about visiting the winery is that they keep re-inventing their wines. They try different techniques.
You can really only try these special versions of your favorite wines by going to the winery. And the servers there are so special ... adding depth to your enjoyment of your favorite wines and letting you taste the new ones.
In the interest of full disclosure, I am one of their Wine Club members. It is a good thing!

The staff at Kenneth Volk consistently offer one of the best tasting experiences in California (actually, pretty much anywhere). At the heart of this, of course, are exceptional wines, and underappreciated varietals, as well as the standards such as pinot. However, there are many wineries with good products, but the tasting room experience diminishes them. This is never the case here. The staff are universally personable, knowledgeable about the wines, and attentive to what you do and don't like. We have been here around 10 times, and in many cases wines not on the tasting menu came out as they observed our reactions to the wines. The location is also lovely, as are the gardens also designed by Ken Volk. It is a great place to bring a picnic and sit out back. Alternatively, go with the cheese pairing, which is very reasonable and well matched to the wines. Consider making this your first stop of the day and working your way back along the wineries off Foxen Canyon.
