While many visitors come for the beaches, arts celebrations and fiestas, San Sebastian-Donostia is serious about its food and drink. The Old Quarter’s narrow, winding streets are full of bars and restaurants, and in the modern city, sidewalk cafes are all around. The city specializes in seafood. Just make sure you know not to expect dinner at 6 or 7 p.m.—that’s much too early in Spain. Instead, tide yourself over with tapas, and enjoy eating and drinking late into the night.

A modern iron sculpture by Eduardo Chillida embedded in the rocks at the water's edge.
A romantic place where the waves of the sea, iron, stone, wind and sculpture originality come together. A nice walk by the sea.

Wander the old town and lose yourself amongst the narrow streets, with so many restaurants/bars to stop at for refreshment and so many sites to see and explore.

Very nice park with beautiful bright flower beds, playgrounds, and imposing building of the San Sebastian City Hall (Casa Consistorial). Such a lovely place to relax and watch the world going by. TIP for shoppers: there is a interesting boutique across the street from the park: they sell very attractive decor items made of multi colored minerals.

The name of this place says it all 'Miramar' Palace, it certainly looks onto the sea, and what incredible view! It's the former summer residence of the Spanish queen Maria Cristina who spent her summers here for 40 years. It currently hosts the University Summer Courses and other special events. During the summer it opens at weekends for visits. In any case, it's worth just popping in for a stroll on the grounds and gardens to enjoy the magnificent views of the Concha bay.
