Virtuosi di Venezia

The Orchestra Virtuosi di Venezia-Orchestra da camera di San Marco had been formed in 2002 under the inspiration of Vivaldi's work. The ensemble and the musical formation have both been chosen to recall the exact situation in which Vivaldi worked and reproposes in its concerts the athmosphere and the genio of the Red Priest' compositions. The Orchestra was born with the intention and the honor of paying tribute to the great composer in the prestigious Ateneo di San Basso, in San Marco square, whose hall has the same dimensions of the Pieta Institue music hall, in which Vivaldi composed.

Walked into this music hall and was enthralled by the setting. Tickets were easy to get directly from the front desk and had seats (free seating) right up in front. Having the musicians playing up close and to see their passion as they played were an awesome experience.

I Musici Veneziani

The Orchestra I Musici Veneziani was formed in 1996 and owes its prestigious name to the carefully considered selection of some of the most accomplished of Venetian virtuosos. Musica A Palazzo

Accessible Opera, as though it was in your sitting room, but its a palace in Venice. Stunningly personal. Fun fun fun with 3 light and easy Operas to choose, 7 nights a week. It will make so many people's trip to Venice even more memorable.

Imagine enjoying opera in a traditional candle lit palazzo with an audience of about 50, and you will come close to the heart of the Venetian musical culture. They say that Opera was invented in Venice. The Artists were talented, full of energy and humourous and the whole performance of The Barber of Seville very engaging. I loved how they made a special effort to include a couple of very well behaved young girls who attended with their parents. It was also great to have the opportunity to visit the Palazzo with its original features and unique atmosphere.

Ateneo di San Basso

The church of Ateneo of San Basso was built in 1076 in honor of San Basso and is one of the oldest churches in Venice. After the fires of 1105 and 1661 the church was built again. The simple elegance and classic admired today is probably attributable to Baldassarre Longhena, who worked at the time at the Basilica of San Marco. In the XIX century the church was robbed of its altar and its decorations and in the years to come was first sold to a private and later transformed into a laboratory for marbles and sculptures. In the fifties of the '900 the building was rebuilt and adapted to the conference room. The Ateneo of San Basso is now deconsecrated former church located in the heart of Venice, Piazzetta dei Leoncini, to the left of the Basilica of San Marco. Since its reopening in 2002 is considered one of the most important cultural centers of the city.

Collegium Ducale Orchestral Concert

Reviewed By MDeleuran

We experienced Collegium Ducale two nights in a row at Palazzo delle Prigioni. The first night we listened to primarily Vivaldi (the entire Four Seasons) and were astonished at the musical talent. The second night we listeded to Opera (a mixture of e.g. Rossini, Bizet, Mozart, Verdi and Offenbach) and were again pleasantly surprised. The first night we paid EUR25 per ticket - and found it to be exceptionally good value for money. When we on the second night told their ticket office that we had been there the night before, we were offered a substantial discount, paying only EUR15 per ticket. The setting is relatively small/intimate and the acoustics splendid. We warmly recommend this!
