Dark Star was established in 1994. We are conveniently located just two miles west of the 101, just off of the 46 on Anderson Road. Dark Star makes small lots of premium, hand-crafted wines, including traditional Bordeaux and Rhône styles, creative California blends, and some things not everyone has: Montepulciano, Tempranillo, Viognier, Roussanne, Rosé of Grenache and a Port. Our menu presently includes about twenty different varietals and blends. Drop by and visit our spacious indoor tasting room and outdoor patio, both with comfortable seating. Bring your own picnic and enjoy wine by the glass, or Dark Star snacks if it is your lucky day. Dark Star is pet and family friendly. Check out our observation beehive, ax throwing pitch, free-range chickens and winery cats. Taste eight-ish wines for a fifteen-dollar tasting fee, waived with a bottle purchase. Check the darkstarcellars.com "events" page for our regular music events and parties.
My wife and I were visiting Paso Robles and its unique wineries. The hotel staff mentioned to us that they had heard good things about Dark Star Cellars. They encouraged us to check it out. I am glad they did. We were most impressed with the winery and the quality of the wines. The winery consist of three red main buildings. The wine tasting room was open and had a positive, relaxed atmosphere. The tasting room had a closed bee hive on the inside, a black kitty and even some food. They also had a covered outdoor picnic area. Mike greeted us and started serving us some wine samples. He told us about the winery and each of the varieties of wines they make. In between samples, we cleared our palate with crackers and/or chocolate chips. It was all Fun! Dark Star makes a great variety of different wines from Rhone wines, Bordeaux wines and California red wines. Each is distinctive and tasty. We liked almost all of their wines. After we had finished our sampling, Dave took a small group of us for a winery tour of their facilities. It was wonderful. My wife even got to taste a sample of red wine that was almost ready for bottling. It was a small and intimate tour which we loved. Afterward, we bought a bottle of their red wine and brought it home to drink at a later date. We truly enjoyed visiting the Dark Star Cellars winery. It was a great visit of a winery who is committed to quality and good taste in wine. We encourage everyone to check them out.

We visited Gary Kramer Guitar Cellars in September for a private engagement and were blown away by how cool the tasting room is and that Gary Kramer was there too. Mr. Kramer was very humble and down to earth. I wish I could listen to more of his stories about the guitars and the artists. The wines were great, the staff was fantastic and the atmosphere is amazing. If you like music and wine, go to Gary Kramer Guitar Cellars. Mr. Kramer gave me a tour of the back concert area which I can only imagine will have some amazing musicians at very soon. Unfortunately for us, the intimate venue was not finished and the stage looks as though it had just finished being built. We will definitely go back and hopefully to watch some live music too.

Enjoy an upscale cocktail experience where you can find golden age cocktails with a modern twist.
This is a must-try spot for drinks. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, the bar is well stocked, and the atmosphere itself is worth the price of a drink. So the artisanal ingredients and quality booze are just icing on the cake. They do a very nice job of the Prohibition-era speakeasy vibe. Be prepared to stand in line on a busy night: it's not a big place. Consider going mid-week.

Tetto, The Piccolo's 1,500-square-foot rooftop bar, is the first and only one of its kind in downtown Paso Robles. Tetto features a full craft cocktail bar, alfresco bar seating, comfortable lounge areas, and inviting fire pits - all tucked beneath the shade of a covered trellis. Open to the public.

The Lone Prince of SLOdippo goes on yet another SLO-dipitous journey. In dire need of liquid sustenance, we selected the discount store. After gazing upon a selection of fermented liquids, one caught the eye. It was not only made with local apples, but hailed from some craftsmen in the Quiet Village of Atascadero town. A singular sip & snort from the humble squat brown bottle made one's senses tingle. Savoring every drop of this golden brew, one could only wonder how to somehow find more. It was far easier than finding a blind lame camel in a far off land and involved a net thrown over the nearby lands north of us. As I cautiously & rather skeptically approached, the master of Cider magic revealed himself, as Cody the Cider King. Cody the Cider King was both kind and wise. Never before did I know what magical creations can be done with the variety of local Apples, amazing skill, & various scents & colors that one could barely guess at. One brew was more amazing and magical than the next. One would have guess that one pinkish brew involved some berries, but Cody the Cider King kindly redirected me to think more creatively. Indeed, it involved red beets, fennel, & numerous apples. Some brews involved sweeter apple varieties and some involved those on the more sour side. Some involved hard spirits, like whiskey, and some were aged in the old barrels that used to make them. I then headed home, with my precious new Ciders tucked carefully in the trunk of my Camel-less Conveyance.

Absolutely beautiful winery and property. Situated on 82 acres this former Arabian Horse Ranch is definitely a showplace. The wines are all delicious and the friendly tasting room staff make you feel at home. This is a must visit when you are in San Luis Obispo County The show auditorium is as nice as you see in Vegas.
