This beautiful fishing village is a Nicaraguan gem, a magnet for surfers and sunbathers. At night, the beach still pulses with activity, thanks to a few popular beachfront bars and nightclubs. Surf clubs abound—catch a wave with an expert instructor if you’re a hang-ten rookie, trying to hang with the surfer big boys.

What a GREAT view of SJDS and it only cost $2. Jesus was also pretty COOL ???? Lots of steps and very steep if your hiking. We took Gaby transport which was a good deal and only had to walk up from the parking lot.

We went on the Turtle Tour with Irvin Chévez who has a lot of knowledge of the area and knows all about the turtles. The Tour starts in San Juan del Sur and it takes 50 min. by car to go to La Flor. We released some baby turtles and were lucky enough to see some big ones coming to lay their eggs. Irvin cares a lot about the turtles and knows when it is necessary to switch of the torches, so the turtles are not disturbed. Also the pick up was on time. +505 8452 5141 contact him via this number

Our most favorite beach in SJDS area. Long sandy beach with gentle vawes and great facilities (even showers) provided by Eco Lodge and local restaurant.Lot of hammocks, large sitting area in a shade. There is something so calming about this place.Three dollars entrance is worthy.

Our family has visited the beach on many occasions. It has a wide sandy area before you get to the water. There are several bars with food available for lunch but supper is questionable. The parking can get busy so park with your car facing outward to avoid getting trapped. This spot is visited by many beginning surfers so as the tide is coming in the parking area can get busy. The water is very nice for kids and families as the waves are not very big, powerful and you must go way out before it gets deep. Some of the bars offer places to sit if you buy something. There are no umbrellas/beach chairs per se but plenty of places to sit at the bars. There are really no trees to hide out in either as the area is slowly being developed into vacation houses. That being said it is not very busy even at the height of the activity. We have been there on many occassions by ourselves and the only people in the water. Activity picks up around the surfing times. My 9 year old son is not very confident in the ocean and this place is excellent for him to play in the shallow water without fear of a rogue wave mashing him or a strong riptide.

Gorgeous sheltered bay with plenty to see and do. Whether you watch the sunset from a bar or sit in the sand, it’s worth timing your visit to catch one.
