My husband and I did the shorter (out and back; 6km/2hrs return) hike with our two boys, aged 7 and 5. Wow - amazing views of towering wax palms and lush mountain scenery. Just like the Truffala Trees in the Dr Seuss book ‘The Lorax’! Views in the morning were magical, but the weather definitely started closing in with clouds rolling over from around 10:30/11. This was an easy hike to do with children. We took the shared Willy/Jeep from the main square in Salento at 8:30 (they leave hourly on the half hour) and returned on the 11:30 transport. I would’ve loved to have done the larger circuit, but 12km/5-6hrs was probably a bit of a stretch for a 5 year old, unfortunately! It wasn’t particularly crowded and the trail was very easy to walk on - no rain on the morning we went, and regular sports shoes were fine as there really wasn’t a lot of mud at all. Perhaps we got lucky, as it does get quite wet at this time of year!

Kasaguadua combines conservation of a creek with tropical rain forest and 4Km of trails within mountainous landscape for an unforgettable touristic experience. Check the location map (directions on aerial photography) in the Pictures Gallery. IMPORTANT: the tour starts at 10am from our gate. It lasts a bit less than 2 hours and the fee, to be paid at the entrance, is 30 thousand colombian pesos or 10 dollars. Being close to coffee farms, after the tour you can do any of the coffee tours. We can provide with information.
Saw the good reviews here and we can only confirm that it was excellent. We learned a lot about the area and the cloud forest, and even saw a white armadillo. A good hike up and down the mountain and the kids loved to learn about the eco system and the differences to other places. Carlos is an excellent guide and very passionate about their project.

Pictures can’t do this unique valley justice. You have to experience it. We did the 12 km loop counter clockwise (steep part first) and were treated to a cool river trail that crosses the river several times over wooden suspension bridges (one person at a time please ????) then a pretty good climb but very doable. Then once at the top you begin to enjoy the easy path down with many photo opportunities. Think Jurassic park and Dr Suess... Highly recommended!

Wonderful authentic coffee finca tour in a small family owned farm. Jonathan gave a great informative tour in Spanish and English. Our kids loved the experience of picking their own berries. Grounds were gorgeous and we’d recommend to anyone who interested in a personalized experience. Coffee before and after the tour was fantastic as well!

You will find a traditional coffee farm that offers a touristic tour, having a contact with nature and all its biodiversity. Showing the traditional peasant house, green places of the regio n, the coffee process, from its natural and productive space. Enjoy tour kindness, our variety of weather and a good cup of coffee in differents preparations.
I went to the farm alone (no advance booking) on one of the willy jeeps and was the only person to take the tour. It was a wonderful experience, Don Carlos explains about the architecture of the farm, the origins of coffee, the history of coffee in Colombia, medicinal plants on the farm, polyculture and monoculture, crop care, harvesting and processing. You take a tour of the farm and plantations and finish with a cup of coffee. This is so much more than a coffee tour. I throughly enjoyed it and it was a pleasure to meet Don Carlos who spends a great deal of time explaining everything in detail. Fantastic trip, don’t miss it!

We came here, while walking down Calle Real. We bought some postcards here and they even got a Mailbox in the building, where you can send your postcards instantly. He also got some nice pictures hanging in the gallery. When you are at Calle Real, Go visit him!

After walking the Calle Real with plenty of shops I went uphill to the viewpoint. There is this huge valley, very beautiful and green, so inviting.

The church anchors the main square of this very colorful town in the coffee region of Colombia. One can go in and sit in one of the pews for a short prayer. It's peaceful inside. Outside, the square is lined with shops and restaurants. Many of them are painted in rainbow colors. Vendors with their carts sell their goods there. What was irresistible was the Calle Real - one of the most colorful streets found anywhere in the world. The houses are built in the traditional bahareque architecture style (new term for me). Artisanal wares are sold in the stores lining the street, providing retail therapy for some visitors. I loved it.
