We stopped for breakfast--the restaurant is unique--it is in an old bldg., that really needs to be remodeled but i'm sure that's what makes it fun for this college town.
I had the usual eggs and bacon breakfast-as always you usually can't spoil breakfast but it was HOT--which sometimes isn't always the case--we enjoyed our time their--my husband had a burger and he said it was very good.

Our grandson is into everything military so we decided to give him an experience he'll never forget. We drove an armored personnel carrier and a 17 ton Abbott tank. In addition we got to shoot 3 different automatic weapons on the range.
The good:
Obviously we had a fun time and got to do some things most people never get a chance to do.
From our first contact on the phone the staff was helpful, friendly and very safety conscious, which in a situation like this is paramount.
The facilities are good. The web-site is excellent and communication with DAT was efficient and helpful.
The program plan is well thought out. The equipment is exactly what is promised and the staff is right there all the time, being sure that everything is safe and to help you operate the equipment.
The not so good:
We were told to get there an hour early. We did and ended up sitting around for an hour.
For the price the amount of drive time is very short. I know the equipment is expensive to own, operate and maintain, but I was expecting maybe twice the amount we got.
The number of people booked for our day was way too high. On the day we were there (July 11) there were so many people the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. The briefing room was standing room only (after extra chairs were put in the aisles) and the number of participants appeared to drive changes to the normal program, throwing the staff a little off balance. The history lecture was skipped over for lack of time. A truckload of people was left standing around for lack of a driver, etc..
The time spent waiting for your turn to do something was long (I’d estimate in total 3 hours waiting around, half an hour doing stuff, half an hour watching car crushes and inspecting the tanks.)
The number of people being cycled through the shooting range was driving the instructor to move at too high a pace. It was not unsafe, he focused on safe operation, but he was having to move way too fast under the circumstances.
I don’t want to sound too critical. This may have been an off day, but DAT is in complete control of the number of participants that get booked on one day.
Overall a really good, unique experience that was largely what was promised on their web-site. I’m glad that we did it. When booking your visit talk to them about getting a day when they're not booked to (or above) capacity and you'll have a great time!

This is another of those out of the way places that you're glad you visited. The museum (history center) tells the story of the treaty the Sioux made with the US government in about 1856...right before the US government pushed the Sioux further west and appropriated those lands in MN. Traverse de Sioux is an area where the Sioux traditionally gathered (the Traverse is a ford of the river that they used). We're all glad we stopped there.

Who woulda thunk....a cool, first class winery, actually making great wines, in nowheresville southern MN. Beautiful grounds as well as good food. A great place to meet up with friends, lots of unique activities, nice weekend music so always something going on. Was not disappointed.

Don't know what escape rooms are? Well it's like this: You get a group of friends or family or co-workers together, you go in the room, you look around the room, you find clues to solve puzzles, and you have sixty minutes to figure them out and "escape the room." Get it? It might be one of those things where you have to be here. We have 2 rooms- The Witch's Kitchen and The Post Office
Went here with a work group, we were prepaid and arrived at the proper time to find them locked up tight.
We tried calling the number on the door, it went straight to voicemail, we tried texting, email and called the Dork Den as it is listed as an optional place to book, but they could not help and told us to call the number on the door.
We joked around about the new challenge of trying to solve the mystery of how to get IN, but really it wasn't funny as it took plenty of coordination to get 7 work people free on the same evening.
Very poor customer service on their end, they really dropped the ball.
If you're not going to be around at least have a number someone is answering.
