Loyalist House is perhaps the finest example of architecture and furniture from the late 1700s in Canada. I've visited there 4 times over the past 10 years and each time I find it excellent. Rare period furniture from the American Revolution that was owned by United Empire Loyalists. The building is very well preserved and representative of early colonial times in the Atlantic region. I found the staff to be very knowledgable and helpful and the handy written scripted guide I was provided with was very useful. This house/museum is a hidden gem and I definitely recommend it to students of our early history.

The Cathedral is a towering structure in Portland. The Cathedral was build in the 1860s and serves as an example of Gothic Revival. You can develop an appreciation for the sheer size of the building during a walk on the grounds. Note the many windows, which I found to be interesting.

Located in the southern part of the province of New Brunswick, Port Saint John is Canada’s third largest port by volume and has a diverse cargo base, handling over 28 million metric tonnes of cargo annually, including dry and liquid bulks, break bulk, and containers. Port Saint John is the fourth largest cruise port in Canada and a major port of call on the Canada New England itinerary. Follow the recreational trail Harbour Passage around the inner harbour to see the action of the working port.
Everything was very smooth to disembark and embark the ship. There is also a lengthy boardwalk and a farmers market right near the piers.

This is truly the best place to see the swirling Eddie's caused by the high tide flowing up the Saint John River! Besides the water itself we saw loons, eagles and seals. A definite must see while in Saint John!

Carelton Martello Tower was built during the WAR OF 1812. Located at a very high land cropping and of course overlooking the the harbor and the Bay of Fundy. It is presently not open for internal viewing theater was a short hmovie to view (5 +minutes) explaining the how, when and whys ) and weather permitting a brief viewing how to load a rifle and how to safely shoot the musket. Open from June to almost Thanksgiving. Well worth the visit when in the area.

A shortcut from a residential section of Uptown Saint John to an area of small businesses and restaurants...a place to walk your dog, or take a break on one of the many benches. Well-tended green space in the heart of the city.
