Located in the Cultural Center, this interesting museum traces the history of West Virginia through a series of exhibits containing everything from an extensive collection of antique hats donated by a local school teacher to the telescope George Washington used to survey lands within the state.
The WV State Museum has done a wonderful job with creating a wonderful exhibit to show the history of the state. The walking exhibit takes you through the different phases of the history of WV. Each area has artifacts to help tell the story of how WV became a state and the accomplishments of its people. It is free and is located on the State Capitol grounds which in itself very beautiful.

Big Bend is a championship, 18 hole, par 71 golf course of 6,237 yards. Opened in 1965, the course was designed by Claude Evans to be easy enough for beginners and yet challenging for the pro. Trees line the fairways and water is in play on three holes. Larger greens are sloped enough to test putting skill. Big Bend is nestled within its namesake Big Bend of Coal River, which flows around the course and compliments its scenic beauty. Features include a pro shop and a snack bar that serves hot sandwiches and beverages. Big Bend is operated by the Kanawha County Parks and Recreation Commission.

Venture Lanes features 32 lanes for bowling.
My girlfriend and I recently took our kids there for some fun bowling. The technology is very advanced for a bowling alley and the rates are very reasonable. We had a wonderful time. I think it is the best bowling alley in the area!

We like to shop for unique items at the Antique Mall. The staff is friendly and the variety of quality and interesting items is impressive. There are also close by restaurants so you can spend a nice afternoon in a relaxed small town setting.

Yes, the theatre appears to have seen better days. It felt a little worn, especially the hallway carpet. The weeknight early evening time was very quiet. Tuesday had a good deal offer. Theaters offer comfortable stadium seating. Sound and image were good. Temperature was good. Decent moviegoing experience, just a little worse for wear in spots.

An escape room is a fun, immersive new entertainment concept designed for small groups of people to work together in order to escape from a locked room. Each room has a unique story line, and teams must use elements of the room to find clues and solve puzzles in order to escape within the 60 minute time frame. The LOST Escape Room features custom made games that are no where else in the world!
We had an amazing visit to The Lost (Cross Lanes) recently. They offer a very enjoyable experience that is challenging but yet achievable. The staff is friendly and helpful. On this particular visit, we actually spent a good hour with the owner, getting his thoughts...MoreThank you Brent for the kind words. I thoroughly enjoyed talking with you and glad everyone had a good time. Sincerely, The Lost Escape Room Family

Complex that houses a variety of interesting tourist sites such as the State Museum, reference libraries, and a live-performance theater.
The correct name is "Culture Center" -- it's not how I would have labeled it but it is what it is.
There are always great displays in the lobby, several series of lectures during the month, a really good state museum, and sometimes you stumble onto special events there, if you're lucky.
The Culture Center is home to "Mountain Stage" -- the public radio show heard across the country and on Armed Forces Radio around the world.
Check it out!

Meadowood features soccer fields, volleyball, picnic shelters, children's play structures, fishing and boating. The park is home to the Upper Falls Walking Trail, one of a series of autonomous trails in the Walhonde Walking Trail system. The Upper Falls Landing of the Walhonde Water Trail is a natural landing on Coal River and is complemented with portage facilities around Upper Falls Dam. Parking and restrooms are available. Admission is free. Meadowood is operated by the Kanawha County Parks and Recreation Commission.
This is a wonderful park on the western bank of the Coal River. The dam and falls provide a scenic backdrop along the park's entire length. We walked some of the trails and our small children enjoyed the playground while our older children thought standing on the dock over the lake was the greatest thing ever. We enjoyed watching people launch their kayaks and plan to return with a picnic lunch and our fishing poles on another visit.

Marshall fans--- move on. They like the blue & gold too much and it's too high $$$$. I wouldn't collect anything on the shelf.
