I used to go to this beach many years ago and much to my delight...not much has changed. It still has the steep steps down to the beach, beautiful golden sand, lovely clean water with perfectly shaped waves for body surfing or surfing. Since I was last here, they have built a beach bar which has made the experience even better. And now there are surfers, lots of surfers....but there is plenty of room for everyone so it does not detract. There are also surf lifeguards now. There is still one beach which is clothes optional and the whole place has a really good chilled vibe. Totally worth the trip down and up the stairs. The only things to be aware is it can be hard to find parking at the top of the cliff on a hot day and the water can be on the cool side (It is the Atlantic!). This beach is why I came back to Sagres and is why I will go back there in the future. It is so good I am regretting writing this review if it means more people will go there.

Pleasant drive along the Algsrve coastline to the most south Western point of mainland Europe. Views outstanding and FREE parking. Cafe and shops at lighthouse, however unable to have access to lighthouse.

Beautiful sandy beach with good surfing and lifeguard as well. Fab beach bar serving drinks and snacks, great coffee! Tide comes in reasonably quickly so keep and eye out on your towels etc. V popular with surfers and a nice mix of nationalities on the beach, we spent all day here as it was so chilled.

There are many beaches in the Algarve and they are all incredible in their own way...the development behind this beach looks pretty upmarket, so not sure how it will be in summer, but the beach is worth a stroll along when visiting Sagres.

A lot of beaches around Sgaes are surfers paradise with big waves. However, this beach is sheltered from the winds and the sea is very calm. For those not looking for big waves, but a classical algarve picture perfect beach this is is the one to go to. Also very quiet so you have lots and lots of space.

If you in Sagres, (and have a car) this is close by and worth visiting. It has a nice shop and sweeping views of the coast! Be sure to bring your camera.

A visit to the port and fish market is well worth a visit. Good local caught fish served upstairs in the Fishermen's restaurant with a jug of local wine goes down a treat. Watch the commercial and local fishing boats come and go and unloading their catch on the quayside.

I remember this little fort from 26 years ago - the restaurant inside served Portuguese dishes and big chips to die for. The grass around the cannon was like walking on a dense piled carpet and the view from the turrets, as you see, spectacular. Unfortunately the sea has caused massive corrosion and therefore for safety reasons it had to be closed and padlocked. This is still a wonderful piece of history, well worth stopping for and if, per chance, you had a spare couple of million, it would be fantastic to see this little fort saved from the sea. Please take great care, especially with children.
