What to do and see in Ruidoso, New Mexico (NM): The Best Things to do Good for Couples

October 27, 2021 Sheron Bogner

Situated ideally at the center between the Lincoln National Forest to the south and the northeast and the Valley of Fires State Park to the northwest, Ruidoso is a still-sleepy mountain town despite its recent growth and popularity with tourists. The majestic Sierra Blanca towers over the city, tempting snow bunnies to the slopes of nearby Ski Apache. The race track at Ruidoso Downs and the casino at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort promise chance and adventure of a different sort.

Our family of five visited Grindstone Stables and had a great time. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They pair you with the perfect horse for your riding experience which was ideal for my grandchildren. The route up the mountain was so scenic and beautiful. The tour guides were funny, knowledgeable, and made this an amazing experience. I will definitely be coming back here next time I’m in NM.

Absolutely worth your time!!! From the start of booking our massages to the end was a great experience. Cheris was my massage therapist and she was amazing!! Listened to what my needs were and massaged away!! I then added on an Aveda plant based Glycolic peel from Meagan who I absolutely loved!!! She was extremely knowledgeable and gave me great advice on skincare!! The treatment was wonderful and if I lived closer she would be my esthetician!! Loved my entire experience!!! My friend had Fabian as her massage therapist... and said he was probably the best she has ever had... can’t wait to visit again and come back to this spa!!!

We loved the wines here. There was a wide variety of dry reds (our favorites) as well as whites and roses. A trip to the winery the next day opened up new wines and ciders. We joined the wine club and look forward to our shipments.

Fun place to try New Mexico wines. They have a huge selection to choose from and a friendly staff to walk you through the whole thing. There is also an olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting bar. Habanero is my favorite! They also offer juice tasting for the kids and are always kind enough to bring a bowl of water out to the patio for any pets you want to bring along.

The Cork and Kettle

Opened in 2014 by the Doth family, The Cork & Kettle is proud to be Ruidoso's friendliest gourmet food and wine shop! We are a sister-location to Heart of The Desert Pistachios & Wine. With almost 50 years under its belt, Heart of The Desert is New Mexico's oldest and largest producing pistachio farm. Through our experience working on and with the farm, we got to know lots of other small-batch, specialty producers from around New Mexico and the rest of the country. Just like us, they all had a story, a passion, and a product to share. We enjoyed their goods on our own table and learned that eating gourmet doesn't have to be complicated. With that in mind, we set up shop and picked our favorite flavorful findings to enjoy with you. And enjoy, we do! We love when you stop by for a glass of wine or a game of checkers by the coffee bar. We love answering your questions and hearing your suggestions. We do this for you, and we hope you enjoy it too.
