We’ve walked this “boardwalk” which goes over a marsh like area and over to Willeo. The boardwalk becomes a wide concrete path interspersed with additional boardwalk sections. Very nice views of the wildlife that live in the area. It’s popular but due to its width it’s not congested. We’ve seen several types of duck and egrets. About 1.5 miles to the end. Of course another 1.5 miles back to the start. Very limited parking close by but within a half mile from the Azalea Drive entrance additional parking is available.

Childhood home of President Theodore Roosevelt's mother, Martha Bullock, is an 1840 Greek Revival mansion featuring restored rooms with period furnishings.
Inside and out, seemingly well preserved and beautiful. Great guide there Beth, friendly and informative.

Barrington Hall sits on seven acres in downtown Historic Roswell. In the 1830s, Barrington Hall's builder, Barrington King, and his father, Roswell King, co-founded the colony which became Roswell. On your visit to Barrington Hall you will be inspired by generations of the King family, who preserved Barrington Hall for more than 160 years. They come to life in furnishings, artifacts, and stories spanning from 1838 until the city of Roswell acquired the home in 2005. On the grounds, explore the only antebellum public garden in the greater Atlanta area, along with numerous original outbuildings.
Well preserved, knowledgeable guides. Love the history in these places! Very nice tour. Good for ghost hunters too!

There's a stretch of the Chattachoochee between Buford dam and the Morgan Falls dam that is somewhat navigable despite the sandbars. Despite the reputation and mud, you find very little trash in the river. It can be very pleasant to be out on the water when the weather is nice.

Hidden among the trees in historic Roswell, Georgia, sits a graceful home constructed by one of Roswell’s founding families, the Smiths. In 1838, the Smith family and 30 of their slaves left two struggling plantations along the Georgia coast to make a new start with 300 acres of cotton farmland north of the Roswell Square. Their home, built by slave labor in 1845, was preserved by three generations of the Smith family and is now open to the public as a museum. Three generations of the Smith family lived in the home and saved many of their belongings. For over 160 years, Smith Plantation stood the test of time as all around it the small mill village of Roswell transformed into a bustling metropolitan suburb. The home has since become one of the best examples of vernacular architecture, as well as cultural and historical interpretation, found in the region.
Great visit to this Plantation today. Amy, our tour guide, was knowledgeable & enthusiastic about the history of the Smith family. Nice hour tour if you have the time.

We had trouble finding the trail itself even when we used a GPS. We were able to find it as well as parking at 95 Mill Street, Roswell, GA 30075. This is a fun trail- if you know where you are going and depending on how experienced you are in hiking. Our advice is to wear hiking boots. If you do not have hiking boots, then sneakers. There are parts of the trail that are unpaved, but still walkable and there are other parts that are unpaved and uneven and you can easily get hurt. We saw a couple goofing off and not paying attention to the trail and the female slipped and landed on her back. Our second piece of advice is to take a picture of the trail map. With the fallen leaves, it is easy to see what you think is a path and that is not really a path. Also, take a picture of the map because there are very few markers on the trail. At times, we would look for a marker, hike and then discover that we had already passed by the marker. If you appreciate nature and hiking on uneven terrain, you will enjoy this hike. The air is so clean and fresh that you realize just how unclean the air that you normally breathe in is. Parking is free, but difficult to find if you go after mid-morning. Restrooms are surprisingly clean despite the number of visitors.

Gate City's two-story space is anchored in the heart of Historic Roswell. At the corner of Canton and Magnolia Streets, what used to be two Roswell mechanic shops is now a 30bbl brewhouse and 3,000 sqft taproom serving up to 20 house-brewed beers on draft. Stop in each weekend for live music, taproom exclusive beers, 6-pack tastings to-go, community-based events and an overall good time—where the history of our growing city meets the future of craft beer culture.
COOL UPDATE: I live near Gate City and there was a City of Roswell posting for changing their city status. They are looking to expand their facility into a connecting space that used to be a restaurant. They are bringing a distillery to their facility! Not sure when that will open but be sure to keep a lookout. :) This is a truly unique place to experience historic Roswell. It's it's right off of Canton Street and Magnolia. It's a nice large building with adequate parking although the same parking area is used for visitors of Canton Street. The beer is super yummy and the laid-back Vibe of visiting the brewery is a fun experience. They have live music on the weekends during the warmer months and has a very common hangout kind of vibe. What is also cool is during the summer months around the back side of the facility they have garage doors that will raise up so that people have benches and things to experience the brewery on both sides. What I'm really looking forward to is there potential expansion. There is a restaurant that recently closed on Canton Street where they are attempting to acquire that building to expand into a Distillery as well. They would be the very first Brewery / distillery in Roswell. I'm super excited to see this expansion to further include other Brewery facilities in Roswell. Be sure to add this to your list if you enjoy beer tastings, laid-back get together with friends, and finding a nice place for a beer while waiting for dinner.

Bring your own chair and towels. All babies must wear swim diapers. They sell them if you forget. Ice cream snacks, drinks and hotdogs are available. The water is constantly monitored to maintain sparkling clean drinking grade water from the spray heads. Play grounds and covered picnic pavillions are first come. You can rent the spray park or large pavilion for birthday parties or events. The birthday package includes pizza, drinks and a cake. Actually the best price per child for an off site birthday party I have found .
