We have a special warnemuende tour for international guests including a short break (nice restaurant direct at the cliff coast with georgeous view to the Baltic Sea) for having coffee or lunch etc. ... the length will be 180 minutes. (there are breaks, fotostopps etc., also well suited for beginners) You start after a short introduction in turtle modus (beginner modus vmax. 8km/h) for approx 25 minutes going to sightsee highlights near old stream and old architectural streets of warnemuende, the guide has some interesting stories to tell, you see sand sculptures, view to yacht harbor residence, old stream with lovely fish selling boats, beautiful capitain houses in first & second line, lighthouse, promenade with Baltic sea view, spa garden, there we change to professional mode (vmax. 20km/h) and continue our ride at the promenade and go off road through the woods along the Baltic coast … you see a nice mixture off old traditional and new business warnemuende ..

The great views that you get after climbing 175 steps to the top is the reward. The walk from the cruise terminal was a leisurely 15 min, 2 Euro entry fee is reasonable. There were lots of people on the beach watching a beach football match. It was good to spend the day in Rostock & Warnemunde on a hot day instead of taking the long non a/c train trip to Berlin. In any case, we've been to Berlin previously.

We travelled independently to Rostock from our cruise ship instead of taking the cruise line's excursion to Berlin. The Warnemunde train station is a 10 min walk from the cruise terminal and day tickets by S-Bahn cost 6 Euro each. The train takes 21 mins to Rostock Hauptbahnhof and you can either walk to the city centre or take the tram, which is covered by the day ticket, we opted to walk one way. Our primary reason to visit Rostock was to see the Astronomical Clock dating back to 1472, amazing piece of engineering with the original clockworks, precision workmanship that works today after more than 5 centuries. The clock is wound everyday! Being a Sunday, most of the city was closed. We however walked the lovely streets & had a light lunch as well.

What a lovely surprise! A very pretty and extremely popular street lined with cafes, restaurants and shops. It's a five minute walk from the cruise terminal and when you've seen all there is to see there the beautiful beach, the teepott and the lighthouse are close by. Alter Strom is bustling and there's a great atmosphere, it really is a very nice place to visit.
