Most of the area is on fire right now. Some roads variably open and closed. Very, very smoky. If you have always wanted to visit this area for boating or fishing - go another time. It's a lovely area, but poor visibility and very poor air quality due to smoke.

Come see Montana from 12,000 feet above the valley floor. Freefall next to the majestic Mission Mountains and Flathead Lake. Friendly and Safe mom and pop dropzone. Been open since 1992. Jump with a 3 time World Champion skydiver with over 10,000 jumps!
Thank you Gary and Tina for the absolute best experience at skydiving! You go out of your way to capture the experience with multiple camera angles so the experience can be relived again and with our friends. I love your "mom and pop" approach to skydiving. I did not expect the part about climbing out onto the wing strut 12,000 feet up but it sure added to the excitement of the jump and the story to tell afterwards! One suggestion I have is that you might consider selling or including a t-shirt for the jumper advertising Skydive Montana and that the person wearing it was a successful jumper (as opposed to an unsuccessful jumper, ha!). I would be proud to wear it to boast (LOL) of my courage and promote you to others!

This museum is a historical gem. There is a huge collection of Native American artifacts, clothing, art and pictures, as well as documentation of western expansion and settlement. This little spot is a better museum than many museums I've been to in much larger cities. Highly recommended.

If you want to learn anything about the Salish and Kootenai culture on the Flathead Indian Reservation, this is the place you have to visit. A small but very modern museum that has an extremely interesting display of craft, artwork and historical items of these tribes. In addition, there is a beading room located right in the museum where you can watch natives (and non-natives) bead actual items that are sold in the museum store. Really cool. I would recommend this stop of anyone visiting the Flathead Reservation or perhaps anyone visiting the National Bison Range also located in the area.

Located on the Flathead Indian Reservation.
Nine pipe reservoir is a great place to view waterfowl. It also has some pretty darned good bass fishing. You also might catch a glimse of a Grizzley Bear...they sometimes travel down from the Mission Mountains to do a bit of their own fishing. Nine pipes Museum is home to some early Native American artifacts and definately worth a stop

MoAM calls itself The Smithsonian Of The West, and that's not far off the mark, if we think of the Smithsonian as Grandma's attic and Grandpa's garage. Collections of war memorabilia, bicycles, Area 51 space alien paraphernalia, a complete old dental shop, early helicopters, music folios, snowmobiles -- the list goes on because the collection continues to grow. The owners are fiercely loyal to the principles of democracy and what it takes to maintain a civil society. One hopes the civil society reminders rub off on visitors as they are reminded of a kinder and gentler past.

This course was carved out of a piece of farmland and has beautibul views of Mission Mountain and other farmlands.
Waited over an hour (with reservations) to get a waitress. They do not have good wine and would not uncork (for a fee) a good bottle we brought. The vegetables were dry and overcooked and the steak was a bit tough and over cooked as well.

One of the first lakes to warm up during the springtime.
Kicking Horse Res Is almost completely undeveloped in the camping, picnicking and day tripping dept; There is a concrete outhouse with no running water and run down picnic table but lack of such things also adds to its beauty & million dollar views of the Missions as they reflect off the water, plenty of bird watching all summer long; there is a concrete boat launch although no boat motors above 15 h.p. are allowed the bass fishing is second to none at the right times and water temps fishing from the earth dike/rip rap is fruitful and if you are lucky you can hook into one of the large rainbow trout hidden in the deep, handicap access is awful except on the boat ramp, cattle are no longer allowed on this range unit a big bonus!
