The southernmost of the Western Fjord counties, Rogaland is also home to many beautiful beaches and islands. Of the area’s fjords, Lysefjord is the most famous, its 25 magnificent miles marked by narrow passages along steep vertical drops. Preikestolen, Rogaland’s most visited attraction, is a breathtaking cliff nearly 2,000 feet above the water. Kjeragbolten, a huge boulder wedged in a mountain crevasse, is another Lysefjord highlight. Cruises begin at Stavenger, the area’s biggest town.

Plenty of spaces in the parking lot, so don't worry about that. Might be worth getting there earlier to avoid the line that forms to get on the boulder. If you are scared of heights, bring a friend to take a picture of. I am scared of heights but was able to do Trolltunga and Pulpit Rock, but I couldn't get on this boulder.

The TV tower is litterally the largest landmark at Bokn. With a high point of 294 metres above sea level, Boknafjellet has been an important landmark for seafarers for thousands of years. When the Dutch and other nationalities came sailing in towards the Norwegian coast, Buch van See - the Dutch name for Bokn, was the first place they saw. For seafarers Bokn Mountain has always been an important navigational point. Boknafjellet was the highest point between Jaeren and Bomlo, and was therefore chosen as location for a transmitter for the entire region when television came to Norway in 1960. The transmitter at Bokn was completed in 1961 and provides large parts of the population in Rogaland with good radio and TV signals. The view from the top of Boknafjellet is breathtaking. You can drive almost all the way to the top. The last kilometer, you`ll have to walk along a gravel road. Bokn Mountain (294 m) is the highest point between Siggjo in Bomlo and Synesvarden in Jaeren. On a clear day one can see large parts of Rogaland and Hordaland from here.

Varberg is one of the four peaks situated centrally in Egersund. The hike up as well as the top (with telescope) provide beautiful panoramic views over the town, coast and district. At the foot of Varberg, at the head of Øvre Prestegardsvei road, there are petroglyphs from the Late Bronse Age. Signposted from the center. 15 min. walk.
Jonsokknuten: On top of Jonsokknuten, you are in the middle of a huge magma chamber that once lay deep under a mountain the size of the Himalayas. The rocks and ice has formed a great landscape that is a visit. You can also catch the exciting stories from the 2nd World of operation freshman and resistance. This is a trip with different starting points, so the trip can be both for the experienced and for families. The path between the Jonsokknuten and Mysinghala can be somewhat challenging. If you want a guide, contact Magma Geopark. Enjoy this hike and leave only footprints!
Fantastic view from mountain peak 909 m tall. Trail is demanding.
