Highly recommend Roan Mountain Riding Company. The horses are all well trained quarter horses in great condition. The property is beautiful and the rides can be tailored to suit your needs. We chose the 1 1/2 hour ride on the property due to time constraints and it was just fabulous. Dave and Gabe were great hosts and the ride was awesome! Thanks for the great day!

This is a beautiful hike located about 90 minutes from Asheville. It made for the perfect day hike while visiting Asheville. At the parking lot, there is the option to hike the trail off to the west toward Tennessee or east in North Carolina. Hike the North Carolina section to enjoy the views from three balds in quick succession. If you do not have the legs to make it to the end of the trail, the views are quite spectacular from the first bald, Round Bald. If you choose to hike the whole trail, it is five miles round trip to hike Round Bald, Jane Bald and Grassy Ridge Bald. Do not make the mistake of stopping when you arrive at Grassy Ridge Bald. Keep following the trail all the way to the end to catch huge panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. This is a busy trail with sections that require single file hiking.

Roan Mountain State Park is home to over 2000 acres of preserved forest. This park is rich in biodiversity and is home to the crystal clear doe river. Some popular activities are trout fishing, mountain biking, and hiking. There are also numerous overnight options such as fully equipped cabins, and over a hundred campsites. More information on this park and many more can be found at the TN State Parks website.
Beautiful state park with a lot of great hiking trails. Their website has an event section that I recommend. We were able to listen to live music in the amphitheater! The welcome center has maps & great area information.

Beautiful walk through the rhododendrons. This is accessible by everyone since it has a concrete path. Enjoyed lunch after our walk in the picnic area which has about 6 tables or so. Due to the close proximity to others, many wore masks. I can see this being a very busy place on the weekends so you may want to have a mask handy.
