Check out live glass blowing, score awesome souvenirs, and take a workshop to learn a new skill: Big Eddy Glassworks is located in the trendy Big Eddy neighbourhood of Revelstoke, and we’re open 5 days a week! Plan your visit and learn everything there is to know about the art of glass blowing. We’re always hosting new events, teaching at one of our workshops, or adding unique stock to our shelves. Come hang out with us!
We were driving west along HWY 1 and decided to stop for a break in Revelstoke. Brian at the Visitor’s Center suggested Big Eddy’s so we went over the one lane bridge to find it. The proprietor is a lovely young lady by the name of Leah. Her shop is small, but, full of beautiful glass creations for sale at reasonable prices. She was making cheerful cups during our visit so we bought 4 of them that were made yesterday. They explained that the glass has to cool slowly in a particular box to avoid cracking. Lee and her team were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. They normally hold glass making workshops, but, with COVID they are not doing that right now. If you like glass art and functional glass creations, stop by to have a look. It’s easy to access off the highway and to get back on.

For the month of April, we are open Friday through Sunday. We are currently closed to the public Monday through Thursday. At the Revelstoke Railway Museum we strive to preserve, share and inspire a sense of wonder and excitement for our Canadian Pacific Railway. Come and see some of Canada's railway treasures. It's a great experience for all ages!
I love trains and anything associated with them. The Revelstoke museum has lots of engines and rolling stock to see, together with great displays of related features. Well laid out with a steam engine and passenger car inside the building with a diesel engine and other cars outside. Plan on stopping for a acouple of hours.

We always visit this museum whilst in Revelstoke as my grandparents lived in the town in the early 1900s. But family connections aside, the museum is well worth a visit. The exhibits are interesting and beautifully laid out over two floors, exploring the diverse aspects of Revelstoke and surrounding area. Some of the highlights: the history of the Indigenous people in the area, the role of the Canadian Pacific Railway and its workers in the development of the town, the challenges of winter in an area known for its avalanches — a whole exhibit is devoted to the devastating Rogers Pass Avalanche in 1910 — the importance of skiing and hiking to tourism and the economic well-being of the town. A children’s play area, a well-stocked gift shop, and a lovely garden with benches add to the museum’s appeal. The friendly, knowledgeable, and dedicated staff, especially curator Cathy English, make this museum very special indeed. And yes, COVID precautions are being taken so you'll stay safe.
