After spending 10 days in Orlando and Fort Myers area, can't get enough of bird watching. On this quiet Christmas day, we drove 100 miles to see the sandhill cranes.
There were few dozen other bird watchers arriving right before sunset. At 3:45PM, we only spotted couple dozen cranes 200 yards away and many deers grazing.
Around 4PM, we start to see flocks of cranes returning to JPF&W for rest. The actions peaked right before sunset. I would say at least 5,000 of them by 4:40PM. We certainly see many crane dance actions.
Hint: Like other reviewers stated, without powerful telephoto camera or binocular, one won't see much with plain eyes. Also, after sunset, the photo quality rapidly deteriorated too. These birds most likely will move on to Georgia/Florida in the coming weeks if not days.

The Fair Oaks Farms Dairy Adventure includes interactive activities including 3-D films, live cow birthing, full restaurant, bus tours of the farm, and other attractions.
We stopped on our road trip and it’s the perfect pit-stop. There is a gas station, farms and Farmhouse restaurant with fresh pork & beef. Great for couples, solo or families. Some of our dishes were over cooked at the restaurant but that was the only downside and it’s probably a fluke.

I rode with a group of friends this weekend; fun ride on the lake. The Madam Carroll has snacks for sale and drinks. You can sit up on the top deck for a great view and catch the rays, or you can sit on the lower deck in a big room, if there is a program on board. Our cruise had two Gospel groups doing concerts, Hoosier Harmony and Southern Sound.

I kind of didn't want to visit, as I didn't know how many items were actually in this museum! Pretty amazing all the wonderful items, great displays, sot much information, I love antiques and advertising and there are many beautiful items - too many to mention - oh and they do have an amazing HO train display too~

My husband participated in the guest engineer program and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everyone, from Loretta who helped me book it, to Steve the engineer "teacher" to Bob, with his great stories and all the other volunteers made it a great day. The guest engineer program along with the train ride out to the Kankakee river was really nice. A gift shop area, a small museum and just the nicest volunteers make this a worthwhile stop, especially if you love trains.

This attraction was such a pleasant surprise -- had dozens of rides and games and no lines (roller coaster, trains, hay ride, monkey barrels, banana ride, cornfield mazes, playground, etc.). Other similar pumpkin festivals are overcrowded and expensive. This one is worth the extra drive to get to.

Opened in March 2013, Carpenter Creek Cellars is a boutique winery producing high-quality wines from locally-grown fruit. Stop by today to taste the best wines the Midwest has to offer!
Located in a restored barn, this winery is beautiful and very enjoyable! They have a full list of quality wines that everyone can enjoy. We appreciated the quality of their dry reds, and also their Traminette was well-made! The owner/wine-maker is from Michigan, and he is doing a great job here. We enjoyed our tasting that we received from a knowledgeable young lady who provided us with great service, and we purchased several bottles to enjoy back home!

Built in 1940, the Fowler Theater is located in downtown Fowler. Over the years, like many small theaters, it began to decline, especially when it was unable to compete with the larger multi-plex theaters that were being built. The Fowler Theater is representative of art modern architecture, sometimes referred to as art deco. Movies have been shown each weekend since about 2001 when the first phase of the renovation was completed. Besides keeping the price of tickets well below the newer multi-plex theaters, the volunteers also keep the concession prices much lower. It is quite reasonable to take your family to a movie on the weekend.

White County Indiana's newest craft brewery serving up great beer and neighborhood vibes. Our family owned brewery offers up small batch craft beers, friendly service and an inviting atmosphere.
We stopped in to The Crasian Brewing Co. with friends last night and thought it was quite nice. A long table fit our group of seven nicely. We tried the "flight" which has samples of four of their kinds of beer. After that we each...MoreDave, thank you for visiting us and for the review. We are so happy to to serve the wonderful residents of Brookston like you.

Yes, you might think, Fair Oaks = Dairy= Good Grilled Cheese. Personally, I think I've found something much better... the chicken quesadilla!!!! I personally think the GC has too much bread and too little cheese. The quesadilla is perfect with the right amount of cheese and bread. Crispy around the edges of the quesadilla, cooked perfectly!! And as a great addition, have them add the jalapeños cooked inside the quesadilla and not on the side!!! Yum!!! I'm salivating.....
and of course, wash it down with their best chocolate milk!!!
And finish off with a scoop of ice cream. If ever driving by when the cafe is closed, stop at BP gas station, they sell their ice cream..... trust me, I know!!!
