Shambhala Mountain Center

Drove to Shambala Mountain Center - We had to trek for about 5kms; Yes I must have rested twice during the up-hill traverse. I started remembering the trekking @ Tibet, Himalayas. This Gompa is surrounded by dwaras on all 4 sides and houses a huge Golden Buddha. This brings back the memories of Buddha statues @ Gaya, Saranath, Lumbini, Kapilavastu, Kushinagar, Patna, Rajgir, Kalinga, Colombo, Anuradhapura, Sigaria etc., During the closed eye meditation here, my mind was wandering @ these places. Nestled high in the Colorado Rockies in a serene 600-acre valley surrounded by rocky peaks and pine and aspen forests; it provides a safe and supportive container for the teaching of paths of personal health, deepened awareness and transformation.

Beaver Meadows Stables

Reviewed By MarkVanDuker - Edmond, Oklahoma, United States

Visited the stables twice in July 2015. We are very much “city folk” with no experience on horses but we were immediately at ease with Clara on the phone to talk about options. We rode the first time with Taylor and the horses were Dan, Emma and Pearl. Taylor did an awesome job squaring us away and the hour and a half ride was for us a great time – wish it had been more. We returned and rode with Robin on Scarlet and Dan for two hours. I was sad to see that time end. I could not be more pleased with the staff and of course we loved the animals.

Both times we ate a late lunch at the restaurant. The staff on both occasions was attentive and helpful. We ordered normal fare of hamburgers and burritos. The burritos were a welcome treat. Of the restaurants we visited in the area (Pot Belly, Sportsman’s and Fox Acres) we enjoyed the food at Beaver Meadows the most and was certainly the best value of the options in the area.

To get here you must travel up a gravel, mostly unimproved road. And, not open in winter. When you can get here worth while trip.
