The birthplace of the tango is, like the dance itself, captivating, seductive and bustling with excited energy. Atmospheric old neighborhoods are rife with romantic restaurants and thumping nightlife, and Buenos Aires' European heritage is evident in its architecture, boulevards and parks. Cafe Tortoni, the city's oldest bar, will transport you back to 1858, and the spectacular Teatro Colon impresses just as it did in 1908. Latin America's shopping capital offers the promise of premium retail therapy along its grand, wide boulevards.

Situated in an old theater, El Ateneo is one of the most popular bookstores in Buenos Aires.
Although the El Ateneo was very crowded when we visited on a weekday, we easily maneuvered the crowds to wander this beautiful bookstore located in an old theater. The store has a wide selection of fiction and nonfication books, children’s books and games, and music. There’s even a cafe located on the old stage. Even if you’re not a reader, stop by El Ateneo.

Located just a few minutes away from the Recoleta Cemetery, its probably one of the nicest buildings in the area. I don't know if you can enter being a tourist, but this place is huge.
