This is for me the most accessible gig venue in Reading - you can park outside on South St (no specific blue badge parking but fine as you're allowed to park for free in the metered bays, which is the same anywhere in Reading). Slope up to door and automatic doors with wheelchair level button for them to open. Extremely friendly staff who will take out a seat for your wheelchair or leave it in - whichever you like. Slope & flat to both theatre and bar. Not used toilets so can't comment. Newly refurbished bar that do beers on tap and also tea/coffee which you can take into the theatre. Bar opens 1hr before shows start so great place to meet friends first. We find the quality of comedy really good, and indeed prefer this venue to the Hexagon which is far more of a faff to park for (and much further to push the chair!). Concert Hall is ok if you can park outside in blue badge bays but if not you have long walk from behind Forbury Gardens blue badge bays (and if they're full you're stuck!). The only accessible issue which is quite substantial is on the pavement itself when you leave the venue and wheel towards Sidmouth St - you need to cross the staff car park ramp but there are no drops kerbs. It's a right pig and I cannot get up and down them myself; even my burly friends struggle to move me over this bit. This is not the venue's fault but it's worth bearing in mind so you park in the right place to avoid it if you can. But as for South St itself we absolutely love it! Thank you to all the staff who are so lovely!

Progress Theatre is a self-governing, self-funding theatre group founded in 1946 and maintained by volunteers. As a registered Charity we are committed to promoting education in the performing arts as well as producing a programme of varied, interesting and challenging drama to the highest standard. Our intimate 96 seat venue has a fully licensed bar and is the oldest producing theatre in Reading. There is wheelchair access to the Theatre with a seat for disabled patrons and their carer, as well as a state of the art hearing loop. Progress has a thriving Youth Theatre, a Writers' Group, the Friends of Progress and the Members themselves. Progress Theatre enjoys good relations with the Arts and Leisure department of Reading Borough Council, and used to stage the 350-seat Reading Abbey Ruins Open Air Shakespeare in partnership with Reading Borough Council each summer before the Abbeys Ruins was closed for refurbishment. We now produce the Reading Open Air Shakespeare annually in the enchanting settings of Caversham Court Gardens during July.

Just a rum shack and cocktail bar in Reading centre. Tucked away down a side street, upstairs in the old forge, you'll find Reading's largest rum selection, as well as funky DJs and extensive cocktail menu. Hosting monthly rum tastings and comedy events, it's something a little different. We've made a few changes under the new Government guidelines, please visit our Google, Facebook, or Instagram to view the measures we've put in place.
Milk is the best hidden gem in Reading! Amazing knowledge from Connie, Andy and the team on all the delicious rums they have and they also have an amazing variety of cocktails. Only thing I don't like is how far away I live from Milk now :( Always pop in when I'm back in Reading! +Also covid rules are thorough and we felt very safe the whole time we were there.

Visited The Hexagon to see Cinderella in Jan 2020..the staff were so helpful and genuinely nice to talk to, we had a great time, so good we booked the next day and a ticket for the end of the year to see another Panto. Seats were comfy only down side I found it a little chilly... But over all a very pleasant experience

We bring you four different acts at every show including some of the best up & coming comperes and headliners from the UK & abroad. We open from 6.45pm so you can enjoy some tasty delights from our wonderful menu and have a drink and chat before the show starts. Once the comedy has ended your ticket then gets you into our after show party at the venue, so you get to Wine, Dine, Laugh and Dance!

Small family gathering for my birthday celebration. We chose the eat option and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I had the Sea Bass which was perfectly cooked. Excellent 10 member live band playing a never ending selection of 60's Motown music to dance to. Very enjoyable evening at a great price. Thoroughly recommended.
