Cathedrale Saint-Corentin

This medieval Gothic cathedral is perhaps the city's most prominent architectural landmark.

Reviewed By Morvoren - Truro, United Kingdom

This cathedral is quite rightly a National Monument. Admission is free. The Gothic architecture is amazing outside and in. The interior is light and spacious and the ambiance is relaxed. It is worth doing a little research before your visit to get the most out of it, especially if you don't speak French.

Vieux Quimper

Reviewed By 430fredg - Milton, Canada

Our group of travelers from Canada visited the beautiful town of Quimper on our recent visit to Brittany. The word Quimper means the confluence of two rivers, and that is exactly what happens here with the junction of the Steir and the Odet. Quimper is regarded as the cultural heart of Brittany. In the old town you find the streets still have their medieval names, Place au Buerre or Rue du Boucher. This place in Brittany still uses the Bretagne language, and the signs all are bilingual. There is very much an English presence here. The Cathedral doesn’t have the customary rose window but the English gothic windows. The town has the half timbered houses common to the region-lots of medieval character to be enjoyed! Stroll around and take in the beautiful buildings.
