Zoo de Granby is one of the major zoos located in Canada and North America’s northeast. It is home to nearly 1,500 animals from over 225 different species.
Visited the Granby Zoo in August 2017 with our two children (age 7 and 9). They had a blast. So much to see - definitely recommend buying the two day pass if you intend to also go to the water park because there is too much to see in just one day. The kids loved seeing all the animals and, while there's alot of walking, it's not as much as at the Toronto Zoo. The water park was a welcome chance to cool down after a long walk around the Zoo (kids couldn't get enough of the wave pool!). While I agree with other comments re. the price fo the food, there was a special for dinner after 5:00 p.m. which helped. Also, if your family is really organized (ours is not!), lots of people brought coolers / wagons and had their own picnics (lots of places to sit). The only negative would be that the amusement park section of the Zoo is really for very young children. The only 2 rides for older children were the rollercoaster and pirate ship, both of which you had to pay extra for. Go for the Zoo and water park, if you end up going to the amusement park, that's a bonus.

The Zoo sauvage of St-Felicien invites you to come live an unforgettable experience among the Borealie species. Come witness the proximity of almost 1000 live animals in natural wide open spaces. Get on board our caged train to discover the splendour of the Nature trail Park. Continue the adventure by walking along our pedestrian section accessible to the entire family. Meet with Gobi, our Bactrian camel, observe the animals' snacktimes, enjoy our differents activities. One of the 10 most beautiful zoos in the world according to lexpress (France).
This is a fascinating zoo where the walkways wander through trees and over cascades to look down at animals in natural, relaxed habitats. They had two polar bear cubs born at the end of November and December 11, 2018. The day we were there, the sun was out and it warmed up to the low 60s. One cub was out playing in a swimming hole while his mom lazed in the sun. The tiger that was awake came out of its cage and posed for us, while the other napped comfortably. It had snowed there the week before, so all of the animals still had on their winter coats. We've seen lots of musk oxen, buffalo, and so on -- but none quite as good-looking as these were. On the train ride, we saw black bears and grizzlies, a wolf, lots of deer, elk, and a few moose, as well as the musk oxen and buffalo. All of the animals visible on the train were wandering through the woods, grazing, or just enjoying the sunshine. At the restaurant, we saw porcupines napping up in the trees! I had no idea they were arboreal. This zoo has quite a bit of hiking up and down to see everything. But it's well worth the walking involved. It is also handicap-accessible, although it would be challenging. Truly a wonderful zoo!

The exhibit in one room has been totally revamped, and just reopened in 2020. All the description narratives are in French, but you should not miss it even if you don’t speak French. Normally, English speaking visitors would have been provided with a tablet, then follow all the numbered stops. All the stands are thoroughly cleaned every hour. If you have questions, there always is a guide/researcher present for you. I had all my dozen stocked-up questions clarified! The exhibit is simply marvelous and instructive. The CIMM has complete skeletons of all the kinds of whales that are frequent visitors to the St-Lawrence River, except for the Blue Whale where a pair of ribs is put over the entrance. Unfortunately, these came from beloved deceased mammals. Explanations are a static or interactive. When the lights are turned off for the focused light show, the guide give you a tour of the types of whale, one by one. I liked it! I think kids of all ages would like the exhibit. I have seen the first exhibit about 10 years ago. This is so much more beautiful and interesting. It is a must see! Go and encourage them.
