Magnificent views not to be missed from the ruins of the château, two viewfinders point out the countrvside, to the south, Pic Neulos (1256 m) summit of the Albères. towering above us at 1000 m, to the west, the Massif du Canigou (2784 m) and the Pyrenean chain, northwards the Roussillon plain and its numerous villages and eastwards the Littoral and the Mediterranean.
Well worth a walk around the old village and up to the Chateau Previously a summer residence of the King of Majorca was based in the Palace in Perpignan The ancient village was founded by monks in 890

An 800-year-old château with great rampart walks, views, and mildly interesting exhibits on local history and contemporary art.
Great place to visit. Not expensive, wonderful views. Had a very interesting exhibition of the Spanish civil war 1935-37 with loads of authentic photos of the very desperate people fleeing for their lives and the massive concentration camp in nearby argeles sur mer The army commandos are situated in the building and we were able to see them doing some training in the bay too. Amazing to wonder how they achieved that huge castle all those years ago.
