Afro Whale Shark Safari

Join us for a memorable and safe experience swimming with Whale Sharks on Mafia Island. We are one of the few local owned and run companies on the island! Because our team grew up on Mafia (most of us used to be fisherman) we know the waters well and always work hard to make sure you have the best chances possible to swim with the sharks. We look forward to giving you a warm welcome soon. Karibu!! We are also able to help you with accommodation (in our beachside bungalows), flights and snorkelling tours during your stay on Mafia.

Kitu Kiblu: Responsible Marine Encounters

Kitu Kiblu: Responsible Marine Encounters offers half-day trips to individuals and groups who wish to view and hopefully swim with whale sharks, learn about their biology and ongoing conservation issues and efforts. Your itinerary: pick up at 6am from hotel, breakfast and educational briefing, whale shark search on a traditional sailing dhow, snorkeling, return to camp for showers & debrief!

My daughter and I went out three days with Kitu Kiblu and were able to snorkel with the same whale shark two of the three days! Kitu Kiblu are very professional and the guides very experienced and helpful! They picked us up at the lodge each day and provided a nice breakfast and briefing on what to expect when going out on the water. The crew did a nice job running the dhow and were constantly watching for whale sharks. The most impressive thing was the aspect of "responsible marine encounters". They make sure to give the sharks plenty of space so they don't get stressed from the human interaction, something we noticed the other operators don't necessarily care about. We highly recommend Kitu Kiblu!

Kaole Ruins

There are few ruins like Kaole in the Tanzania landscape. The visit to the place is a must when a visitor is in Bagamoyo. More learning and hearing very interesting history of slaves and the town. Well organized by the responsible authority who is in charge of the Kaole Ruins which is a clean and well-kept environment.
