A temple built more than a 1000 years ago is beautiful with its detailed and intricate carvings. Government of Odisha and ASI is doing a good job in preserving this piece of art. Konark Sun Temple

The 13th century temple, also known as the Black Pagoda, is a monumental Hindu structure dedicated to the sun God or Surya.

Reviewed By debashis77_12 - Dehradun, India

The Konark Sun Temple or the Black Pagoda as it is known, is the temple of sun god in the form of a chariot with horses pulling it.Now most part of the temple has been closed by ASI for safety and maintenance. So now the tourist may not have access to see the place where the first ray of sun drop in the morning, which I used to see in my childhood. If you stay in Konark or nearby area you can also see its beauty in night also. Please do carry an umbrella or hat and water bottle as you have to walk in open sun throughout your visit to konark.

Jagannath Temple

Reviewed By 2105bimal - Chandigarh, India

Nothing can describe the ultimate pilgrimage of Hindu religion. The seat of Lord Jagannath, literally the king of the world. From the vast temple complex, to the intricate carvings on the walls of the structure,to the flag which always flies in the opposite direction of the wind to the sanctum sanctorum where only the privileged see the Lord and his siblings is a very humbling experience. The kitchen is huge and cooking is done for approximately 50000 people daily by an army of cooks in only earthen vessels on a wood fire and water drawn from wells within the complex. This temple along with Konark should be on top of the bucket list when visiting Odisha, India.
