Punta del Este is known as the St. Tropez of Uruguay, thanks to its beautiful beaches, upscale resorts and swanky nightclubs. The Vegas-style Conrad Casino adds to the lively entertainment scene. For a break from surf and sand, saddle up with a local gaucho and ride horseback through the wild plains surrounding the city.

The Wine Experience is the Pioneer of Wine Tours in Uruguay and have been Number 1 on Trip Advisor for 10 years running. This is the most popular tour in Punta del Este and was designed specifically for Wine Lovers that like wineries off the beaten track. You will get introduced to Uruguay's flagship grape, Tannat - which is now known as the healthiest wine in the world. We have chosen a small winery, who besides wine makes artisanal cheeses, bread, cured hams, jams, honey and dulce de leche (caramel) and grappa, which they are famous for. We always keep in mind that you have travelled from afar to experience something special. Together with my small team, our goal is to make it as personable as possible (like hanging out with a new friend). We see ourselves as ambassadors of this beautiful country and see it as a privilege to show you the best of what's around. You came to the right place. We can't wait to meet you and share this experience :)
Inclusions: Visit a Small Boutique Winery off the beaten track, Air-conditioned vehicle, Complete tasting of many wines , Homemade cheeses and bread , Learn about the Tannat grape, Uruguay's flagship grape , Taste new and interesting wines , This is more of a private, intimate, educational experience
Exclusions: Gratuities, Lunch
Ryan is a wonderful host! He is super knowledgeable about wine as well as the locations he took me. He's a great conversationalist and did an excellent job with providing an amazing wine tasting experience! So far, I have had two wine tasting experiences with Ryan and am hoping I can do one more before I leave Uruguay. If you like adventure and going a little off the beaten path, Ryan is your guy.

I always love to take a tour when we arrive somewhere new. Of course perfect weather is always prefered, but on this tour on this day it was rainy. However Marcella our guide and driver as we call him Wally made the rainy day sunshine. I can't remember a tour where I laughed and learned so much. There wasn't an empty seat and we were the only 2 english speaking guest and what a blast. Marcella gave us a tour to remember and Wally drove us safely to and from. We highly recommend this tour and cross your fingers you have Marbella and Wally even if it rains ! Thanks Jim & Bruce

Club Hotel Casapueblo is located in Punta Ballena, 15km west of Punta del Este. We designed this Sightseeing, Art & Cultural tour specifically for you in mind. You will get to see amazing artwork by multifaceted artist Carlos Paez Viralo. His meeting with Pablo Picasso in France inspired him to try his hand at pottery and, upon his return to Uruguay, he founded the Ceramic Artisans Workshop. In Ecuador, he wove tapestries with the Otavalo Indians. In Tahiti, he produced his collection of wraparound shawls for the native women on the island. In Washington, D.C, in 1960, he painted his “Roots of Peace” mural, then considered to be the longest in the world. He also left his mark in the form of a large mural in Dr. Albert Schweitzer’s leprosy hospital in Lambaréné. In Uruguay, he painted the sails of the “Capitán Miranda” naval training ship, police patrol cars, and the plane used by the national airline. He recorded several musical pieces and produced many films.

We may have gotten the last Wine Experience event for a while. Ryan Hamilton was able to move our event from a dinner to a lunch event as the hotel it was being held at was closing due to COVID-19! We moved our bus departure from Montevideo up by 3 hours to meet Ryan in Punta del Este. It all worked out even better than dinner would have, as there wouldn't have been a sunset because the clouds moved in while we were enjoying great wines, and wonderful foods, and a great conversation with Ryan. He is a consummate host and sommelier, and we benefited from his extensive experience in the hospitality and wine industries. We truly hope that he is able to offer his Experiences when Uruguay and other countries permit international travel again , because a Ryan Hamilton Wine Experience is well worth the money and not to be missed!

This was a four hour tour of the city. Our tour guide was on time but the van was a little late as he went to the wrong port . We rode around the city with our guide pointing out the Old city and the new part of town. In the Old City we went to a park and a historical cathedral. We spent a lot of time in the cathedral which was good for some of the people in our group but a good majority found it too long. A quick drive infront of the Parliament, the residential houses by the beach and then back to the port where she basically gave us instructions on how to go to the Port Market. It is an interesting place as far as eating but not so much for shopping. Shopping was much better in Independence Hill which we found by ourselves.
