Established by German immigrants in 1853, this is now the key port, transit and business hub of the Lakes District – a good place to replenish supplies, pick up Chilean crafts and get an urban jolt before moving on to more pristine pastures. If you're in the mood to sample some of the famous local salmon, the Angelmo harbor market should be your first stop. From there, it's a short boat ride across to Tenglo Island for views of snow-capped volcanic peaks. Santiago is a two-hour flight away.

Day trip to Chiloe Island, including hotel or airport pick-up from Puerto Montt and round-trip transport by ferry from Pargua. We start our tour taking the Panamericana Route 5 towards the south for about 80 miles to reach the town of Pargua. Here we take a ferry that will allow us to cross the Chacao Canal and reach the Isla Grande de Chiloe. Get up close to wildlife on Puñihuil beach of Chiloè Island where you will enjoy seeing Magellanic and Humboldt penguins. Head back to the city of Ancud to enjoy lunch and afterwards visit the Fort of San Antonio, which hosts interesting stories and myths about the island. Before heading back to the pick-up we will visit the local handicrafts market where you can shop for souvenirs.

Spent a very enjoyable day exploring the sights with Miguel. The bus was very clean and comfortable and also had free wi-fi. Our driver was excellent, we felt very safe, even on the winding roads up to the volcano. Miguel was very knowledgeable and personable. He even had a bottle of water and a traditional Chilean pastry for everyone! He gave us great restaurant recommendations in Puerto Vargas. This tour was half the price of the same tour offered by our cruise line. Fantastic value! Highly recommend!

Sean was awesomely the best of the bestest - very highly recommended!!! We toured Valparaiso and Vina del Mar with him, and he dropped us off at Santiago for our cruise embarkation the following day. That was our first trip to South America - our pre-cruise tour, as we cruised Chile, Antarctica, Falkland Islands, Argentina, Uruguay - still so many places to explore in this area. We will definitely come back, and use Sean's company again...

Located in the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, Petrohué River delights with its rapids. After a violent eruption of the Osorno Volcano, basaltic material gave rise to this attraction that runs through the evergreen forest. The Osorno Volcano is part of National Park and its height is 2650 meters. A complete panoramic view of Lake Llanquihue Lake and part of the Andes is possible in a sunny day. The vehicle reaches an altitude of 1,200 meters on asphalted road where there is a cafeteria and ski center. In addition, it is possible to reach 1400 meters by liftchairs. I had no idea that we'd find opera house on a small town, Fruitillar, on the beautiful Lake Llanquihue in northern Patagonia Chile .Exterior clad with vertical planks in different colors = gorgeous on the inside too with much attention paid to acoustics. Too bad we couldn't stay to see a perofmance.

We arrived on our cruise ship and found our guide, Nicolas, waiting for us in the arrivals Hall at the Terminal holding a board clearly showing our name. Nicolas was absolutely fantastic. He spoke excellent English but is conversant in other languages also. He is a very warm, friendly and personable man and provided us with lots of information about the history, culture and customs, Flora and fauna and a whole multitude of facts about the area during the trip. The cruise ship offered tours but Nicolas took us to areas where coaches would never reach and as a result we were treated to some spectacular scenery and views. Our party of 4 asked him to suggest an authentic Chilean restaurant for our lunch and he took us to La Marca in Puerto Varas. This really was the ideal restaurant to visit and exactly what our group wanted. It was a bonus having Nicolas with us as he was able to advise and suggest authentic Chilean dishes. As a result we had THE most fantastic lunch. If we were to return to the area we would definitely use this company again and I would be putting in a special request that Nicolas was given responsibility as our Tour Guide.....

Enjoy the best of southern Chile in this excursion. A guide will meet you at your cruise port or hotel and take you on the excursion. You will visit the famous Volcano Osorno ski resort and get breathtaking views of Llanquihue Lake and Volcano Calbuco all the way from the top. You can take the ski lift which operates year round if you don't feel like walking. For lunch time, while enjoying the view, indulge in a picnic style lunch (complimentary) of baked beef Chilean empanada with glass of red and white wine. After this, head back south to explore the German town of Puerto Varas better known as the city of roses. If time allows, on the way back we will go visit some friendly llamas and alpacas that love to be fed.
