If you think that there is no way of enjoying a unique landscape in Europe without simultaneously having to share it with crowds around you, you will be gladly surprised to discover the Ebro River in Aragon (NE Spain). From the Castellar cliffs and castle to the Ribera Baja Goosnecks, a dramatic contrast between the arid “bardena” and the fluvial jungle remains barely known by the public, and therefore offers a great chance for those travelers looking for an intimate experience of Nature and its beautiful scenic views. More than 150 miles of mostly calmed waters give you the opportunity of choosing the branch of the Ebro you want to explore on the kayak, both in a half day trip or in a longer journey up to 1 week long. We will always try to share our knowledge and love to this river, the biggest in Spain regarding its average flow, but more importantly an extremely rich environment both regarding its ecological values and its historical heritage. We are happy to practice our English, Français, Italiano and of course Spanish while sharing the wonders hidden in the Ebro, from the amazing bird watching to the breathtaking sunset’s reflections on its waters, as well as all the unique panoramic views only enjoyable from inside the river. Guiding a trip means for us both guaranteeing your security as well as making sure you get the most of the fluvial experience, so we will try to help you understanding the landscape… and even listening to its whispers!-) Feeling tempted? Then you might be interested in Ryan Air flights to Zaragoza from Germany, UK, Italy… and the availability of the rural lodgings in the surroundings of our base in Cabañas de Ebro, at the heart of a pintoresque rural county just 30 minutes away from Zaragoza city. We offer a comprehensive service for groups, so we would receive you at Zaragoza’s Airport and bring you to a genuine experience of the river, its surroundings and its people. If you are lodged in Zaragoza, you might be interested in cruising down its monumental city center: paddling along “The Bridges of Zaragoza” will allow you to enjoy unique sights of its monuments as you have great fun splashing and maybe even swimming in the river!

This display in Spain is something to behold. The artists who made these exhibits must be very skilled. Very cheap admission price and well worth the time to visit in this central location.

Wonderful visit to this monastry. We were limited for time so only scanned the building. Would have liked to stay for a whole morning or afternoon to see everything there was to see. We did manage to see the wine museum which we found to be fascinating. Of course we purchased a few bottles of wine and found them absolutely delicious!

Panoramic Views from the mudejar tower.

Very interesting church. To go up the tower, you have to take the guided tour which is normally only in Spanish. However, on the day we went we were the only visitors and the guide did it in English for us. He was very informative and the tour lasted 1.5 hours.

This village is remarkable place for Spanish history - King Fernando el Catolico was born there in 15th century. He had so many titles (Fernando II of Aragon, Fenando V of Sicily, Fernando II of Naples, etc) that we wouldn’t have space to mention everything. It is well preserved, very clean, you’ll find many places beautiful and even charming. Church, medieval market, palaces, etc and a lot of cats. Place also Important for Jewish history.

Museo del Fuego y de los Bomberos

Reviewed By backpacker31 - Boynton Beach, United States

I’ve been a fan of fire engines and equipment alike since I was a child, so stumbling upon this specialty museum was a real treat, taking me back to my childhood. The collection of fire trucks and other vehicles is fantastic. The equipment and uniforms throughout the decades is wonderful to see - you can even try on some firefighter clothing! The basement houses an extensive collection of rescue equipment (fire extinguishers, pumpers, etc.) and uniforms (paramedic, smoke jumpers, water rescue, mountain rescue, helicopter rescue, etc.). Other exhibits include detailed dioramas, photos of extraordinary fires in Zaragoza, badges, hats and paraphernalia from around the world and more. The staff are absolutely welcoming, informative and engaging - all current or former members of the fire department. I was their last visitor in mid-March just prior to their closing due to the coronavirus pandemic. I hope they will safely reopen in the not-too-distant future so they can continue to welcome fire fighting fans from around the world.

In the Museums of Mequinenza you can explore an underground mine of coal with more than 1,000 meters of mining galleries at the Museum of the Mine, travel through history to the disappearance of the old town of Mequinenza flooded under the Ebro river at the Museum of History and discover how lived prehistoric people at the Museum of Prehistoric Past.

I was pleasantly surprised, I did not expect a museum in the city at all. Mequinenza has a history. It is necessary to arrive in season.
