We have just completed our 8-day tour of Puglia with GoinItaly, guided by wonderful Gaetano Barrone. We were given the very best of service by a capable, knowledgeable and attentive tour leader. Gaetano goes out of his way to meet the needs of guests and takes genuine delight in sharing the country he knows so well. Highlights of the tour include great accommodation including a stay in a traditional Trollope in Alberobello. The tour included amazing food and wine experiences as well as visits to many wonderful churches, castles and beautiful Southern Italian towns. Highly recommend this company if you are planning to visit southern Italy.

Have you already seen the Archaeological Museum of Naples and think you have seen everything? Nothing more wrong. The archaeological museum MarTa of Taranto will amaze you and leave you breathless by the beauty of the precious artifacts displayed in a large exhibition dedicated to the Apulian Greece-Roman artefacts arranged according to the type of materials: marble sculptures, monumental tombs, soft stone sculptures , pottery of the necropolis, goldsmiths. The guided tour will take you to visit the rooms dedicated to marble sculptures, another room with sculptures, mosaics and epigraphs from public and private buildings. Following will visit the rooms dedicated to the pottery from the necropolis. The diamond point of the museum are the so-called Ori of Taranto (Golds of Taranto) which, in reality, are almost all of Canosa di Puglia town. I couldn’t put correct date on this review - I did this tour with my two children in August 2019 and originally posted it then. I have had a message to say that I had posted it under the wrong company (one with a very similar name). I would like to re-post the review as we had such a brilliant day with our guide and would like to recommend the tour company to others whenever this type of activity goes ahead again! Our guide Ms Ivanova was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour took in many places around the city and we also visited the Uffizi in the afternoon. I was with my children aged 6 and 9 and both really enjoyed this day. They felt included and learned a lot. The guide met us at the times planned and gave plenty of opportunities for questions and were able to answer any queries. Everything was organised well and went smoothly. We were unable to book a tour inside the Duomo but actually this one which took us all the way around the outside and to other fascinating parts of the city was perfect for my family.

The rock churches of this tour never appear in the official guides that advertise Mottola and for this reason they are absolutely unknown to visitors. However, these rock churches are really very interesting for their architecture and their frescoes. Furthermore, in these small country churches it is still possible to breathe an atmosphere of intense sacredness and genuine popular religiosity.
