An exclusive one day tour of some of the best vineyards in Argentina. Salta is home to the highest altitude wine region in the world, and this area is still a relatively undiscovered gem. In the premier wine town of Cafayate we will sample Torrontes, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat. You will also visit the Quebrada de las Conchas canyon, with the naturally formed geological wonders of the Garganta del Dlablo and Amfiteatro, a naturally-formed amphitheatre. This trip is tailor-made to your tastes, in a private vehicle with an English-speaking driver/guide.

We took this tour with Rodrigo guiding us in late February just before the coronavirus shut down travel. Having the personal attention of a private tour was great and Rodrigo quickly gauged our interests and modified the tour to meet our interests as we went. We were fortunate being in the region during Carnivale celebrations and to be able to experience the thrill and chaos of the occasion. There were many highlights of an action packed few days but the Hornocal, Salinas Grandes and San Salvador de Jujuy stand out. Rodrigo’s knowledge of the history and culture and personal contacts were excellent and really added to our enjoyment. We can highly recommend this trip and Poncho Tours service from the booking process, airport pickup and arrangements generally were exemplary.

This is a private day tour for those who like a little luxury! We will visit the very best winery that Cafayate has to offer and give you a taste of the region that is slowly becoming known as "Napa valley on steroids". If you are a wine conocer or if you like to live the life of luxury this is the tour for you. We will explore the beautiful Quebrada de las Conchas and observe its amazing coloured sandstone structures on the way to one of the premium wineries in Argentina. Here you will be able to enjoy a wonderfully relaxed lunch overlooking the vineyards while sipping on the locally made wines. After lunch you will have the jpourney back to Salta to take photos and explore the hidden wonders of the Quebrada.

In December 2019 my wife and I, along with two friends, were treated to an an amazing three day trip around northern Salta Province followed by a more extended six day trip to the south of the province. I say treated because we were in the extraordinarily capable hands of Five Senses Salta. We were taken to a number of fascinating villages where we shopped and dined and also listened to some wonderful ethnic music. We traversed some of the most amazing and varied landscapes - multi coloured rocky valleys, vast open desert plains of cactus and blasted twisted rock formations, ancient native settlements, lush vineyards and river valleys and at one point a seemingly endless salt plain. The hotels we stayed in were top class - a delight to arrive at and we were always sad to leave - but the road beckoned. We travelled in two separate cars which were very comfortable. Given the often demanding road conditions, our drivers were more than up to the task and as guides were full of interesting and relevant information. The trip was part of a more extended visit to South America, including Lima and Machu Picchu in Peru. This part of the trip was also organised via Five Senses contacts based in Lima. We definitely enjoyed the trip of a lifetime with Five Senses. It was easy to communicate with Gareth and his team, who always responded quickly to any questions and tailored the trip to meet our needs in every respect. Airport and hotel pick ups were efficient, cars and drivers of the highest quality and rest days built in to our itinerary. Can’t recommend Salta Province and Five Senses highly enough. Thanks to all.

The tour was very good. The mountains and Salinas Grandes were amazing. The driving and explanations were very good. However, we encountered some issues with that company. On the booking, they requested that we confirm the tour, so we sent a message through TripAdvisor 3 days before the tour. As we didn't get any reply, the day before the tour, in the morning, we went to their office in Salta. There, we learned that the part of the tour to San Antonio de los Cobres was cancelled because of some problem with the road. They never sent us any previous notice about that. The agent finally agreed to compensate us by giving a discount on a second tour to Cafayate that we booked with them, which was also interesting. By the way, the price of the tour on TripAdvisor is about twice as the average price for that tour offered by many agencies in the center of Salta. Finally, we received a reply to our request through TripAdvisor in the late afternoon of that day. That reply didn't mention that the visit to San Antonio would be omitted and stressed that we should be ready by 7:00 AM the next morning to be picked up. That morning, the minivan came very late, at about 8:00 AM. So the whole tour was delayed and we returned after 9:00 PM. Considering what happened, I asked the company to give us a more precise pick-up time for the second tour on the next day, which they did. They gave us a 20 minutes interval and for the second tour the pick-up was exactly in the specified period.

Great attention, we had to re schedule twice our transfer to and from the airport due to airline's issues and they were quick to give a solution. Martin and Omar are great guides, very knowledgaeble and funny. From now onwards Nordic is my way to discover the north.

My back is BROCKEN. - 3h of dirty road with a transport not adapted - salinas are ugly and full of tourists (uyuni 1000x better) - you really are in jail like a group of sheeps. 1mn here, 5mn here, ... 4170m is like a "WOW" and you take the photo of a stone saying it.. Avoid it by all means. If i could i would have spent money before to skip the end of this tour.

This is a tough 7-9km hike through stunning and rugged high altitude scenery: suitable for the experienced and adventurous trekker! From Salta city, we travel to Campo Quijano, a town famous as the base for workers constructing the Train to the Clouds railway line to the Chilean coast. We can stop to see an antique engine and the mausoleum of the train line's chief engineer, Richard Maury, from Philadephia, USA. From here we will climb into the stunning multi-coloured Quebrada de Toro, crossing rivers and driving off road through canyons to reach San Bernardo de las Zorras, where our hike begins. It's two hours travel each way: the walk takes between 4 and 5 hours. Our guide is experienced in hiking all terrain, and speaks English and Spanish. Picnic lunch provided.
