The Province of Lleida (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈʎɛjðə], locally [ˈʎejðɛ]; Spanish: Lérida [ˈleɾiða]; Occitan: Lhèida) is one of the four provinces of Catalonia. It lies in north-eastern Spain, in the western part of the autonomous community of Catalonia, and is bordered by the provinces of Girona, Barcelona, Tarragona, Zaragoza and Huesca and the countries of France and Andorra. It is often popularly referred to as Ponent (i.e. the West). It is the only province within Spain that is landlocked.

We will know Pedraforca which is one of the most emblematic mountains of Catalonia (Spain). It has a very peculiar shape due to its two peaks separated by a large hill. Its best known view is that seen from its eastern slope. Considered a natural reserve of national interest. It is a particularly attractive mountain formation due to its U-shaped profile, a peculiarity that gives it its name. The Catalan words ‘pedra’ and ‘forca’ mean, respectively, ‘stone’ and ‘gallows’ in Spanish Walk through the Tartera de Gósol a path once filled with pebbles and small rocks that facilitated the road, currently with some erosion due to the activity of hikers in the area.

Jamie did a wonderful job of putting together a beautiful day in the mountains for me on my recent trip to Barcelona. I had no idea where I wanted to go or how I would get there, so reached out to Jamie and he took me on an absolutely spectacular hike through an area I would never have been able to reach without his local knowledge. He was also very good at catering to my individual requirements (in this case putting together a reasonably long and fast day for someone going through mountain withdrawal). Strongly recommended! And don't forget that the swim is worth it, even in October!
