The Majestic castle of Otranto is the symbol of the town; it was built at the end of the XV century and it has been renovated over the centuries. Today, after an impressive renovation, the castle houses cultural events; exhibitions and an archeological museum.
Well maintained castle with a superb view of the city from its ramparts and an impressive exhibition by a local artist which developed in all the rooms on the second floor.

This small and very interesting museum is in the Castello Carlo V. The video explaining the entire process along with the displays give you a real feel for the artistry and skill involved. Has both historic and contemporary examples of the art. Makes a good starting place before you go to the churches in Lecce so you can get an idea of what you are seeing.
